There is certainly something strange about Christians having a pop at Scientologists.
"Their book is WAY stupider than ours! Come on!"
IM FED UP AND I NEED TO GO
OUT OF EXISTENCE OR JUST DOWN THE ROAD
FOR-EVERRRRR
that's your fucking holy book
edit - This has already been mentioned but how exactly did Tom Cruise get that South Park episode banned in the UK? And why in the UK?! If it's true, it smells of shit.

Listen, people can pull the whole LOL THE BIBLE IS JUST MADE UP TOO but the fact that the bible was written by a whole collection of people who supposedly either shared experiences or experienced similar events is a completely different kettle of fish from (what reads quite like) a down-and-out, batshit insane science-fiction writer who created a religion so that he could live in tax-free exile on a boat attended to by his minions.
Thanks Scots.
Headphones: You get promoted to the 'people who don't read the whole thread' section with the other asshats.

Now you've posted in it, nobody can read it!
If you have incredible beliefs, don't get indignant when other people do. I have nothing against Christians just as I have nothing against Scientologists. Whatever gets you up in the morning. But the idea that Christianity has more credibility because it's a more successful memeplex is facile.
Your literature is older, it was written by more people (ooh better journalism) and you have better architecture. A lie in a dress is still a lie.

No I was referring to your "wacked-out ideas" of which you have a few (e.g. the government is poisoning your water, 9/11, etc).

It's possible I've said this elsewhere on these forums (:bored: ) but you're obviously spouting shit from a two-bit philosophy/humanities/insert socially aware course name here class and don't know what the hell you're talking about when you make such generalizations about the bible. Christianity aside, it is a million times more legitimate work of literature than the 'other' books it compares to, as Scots was saying earlier. The contrast is huge, as is the practical belief system of the two groups in question -especially from a philisophical standpoint.
If your mind jumps immediately to Pat Robertson, the above will not resonate with you. It's also possible you're not familiar with the color grey.

You are soooo wrong. I know you make a habit of it though, so I'm not
too offended.
Without going into too much BORING detail, (a) I don't have any "wacked-out ideas" concerning 9/11 (that's not MY documentary I linked to, boyo) and (b) I don't believe any government is "poisoning my water", I just disagree (i) with mass medicating people regardless of their will and (ii) that fluoride provides any significant health benefits, and may in fact cause significant harm in certain cases.
Now please bugger off, and if you're going to accuse me of things in future, at least have the sense to back it up with proof. That way, you won't keep coming off as a total cretin!

re fett
You misconstrue the target of my flippancy.
Literary heft does not translate into metaphysical heft. There is as much truth in your belief that God exists as in Tom's that Xenu does. Christians glibly dismissing Scientology as ridiculous on the grounds of its logical inconsistencies look stupid because thetans and trapped souls (or whatever) have their implausible analogues in Christianity.
As a Christian you can legitimately claim a literary monolith as your own, and a much more sophisticated theology. But you can't take the piss out of the funny green men. Because the storied ephemera of your gang are equally untrue.
