Yeah Duck, I do understand that. But I'm talking in comparison to other nations more closely comparable to the UK.
I mean, I know we sometimes make a big deal of "oh no guns and shooting" in the US, but as I understand it the really bad stuff stays in really bad areas, and they don't seem to have the same levels of random petty violence pervading the nation.
Or what I'm trying to say is, the really nasty stuff that might affect 1 in a 1000 people is twice as much, but general twattishness that might affect 200 in 1000 is half as much. Just talking off the top of my head, but hope the point is clear.
What about our Euro chums? What's it like out there? I'm just trying to get a sense of perspective.

It's one of the factors, undoubtedly. I'd say that children from families where one parent has remained at home to raise the child, for example, are far less likely to become street thugs.
School meals are another factor - over the years, school meals have fallen in quality, with more additives and less nutritional value.
Hell, there are dozens of factors, so don't dismiss a perfectly valid one as "ridiculous" unless you have proof otherwise.

Without resorting to such a generalisation, I'd say there's also some truth in this - unemployed people are far more likely to be lacking in education and/or social skills, and so their children grow up the same way.

"Western wisdom" would have that the other way around, you know. And that makes me wonder, based on how (I've heard and/or assumed) other people in other (non-western) countries live, whether there is any relation between those two things at all, except when the relation is artificially created by capitalistic society.
