Well, if you're a gypsy, then chances are you're a pretty frequent victim of abuse and/or violence at the hands of the inbred savages that constitute today's underclass. It stands to reason that a gypsy term should pass into general usage.

I thought Gypsies were originally from India rather than Europe.

Neds/wee neds in Scotland. Where I used to live down south we called them Barries. Young ones always had a scooter and enjoyed chasing public school (US equivalent of private) kids, older ones used to cruise round and round and round the centre of town playing dance music from bazzed-up Vauxhall Novas. A lot were also into vandalism and smalltime breaking and entering, when they weren't impregnating Shazzas or getting pissed in playgrounds on Tesco's six-pack 250ml Biere d'Alsace.

The Romany peoples left India a thousand years ago; they've been living in Britain for the best part of 500 years.

I think I was getting Romany confused with Romanian.

heh... thats pretty depressing. Whenever anyone says 'I got beaten up in oxfordshire!' you can take a pretty good bet its in the peoples park in banbury. What a shit hole. I used to go to the sixth form there, do you live there? Is the mill still going?

This the 'happy slapping' I keep hearing about? Anyway, no permanent damage I hope, these sort of things suck. Gather some friends and make them understand that.

That is pretty grim. Bench drinking, happy slapping, what is happening with the english :nono:
