celebrating a murder.
No, "celebrate" this (about the weapons risk): (

But you won't understand because for the Right is always a "personal matter" (it's innate in the Right thinking)
Nobody is happy about a death at human level and even not human (you got a martyr to sanctify -> BAD on tactical level too)

It's an interesting comparison, since Barr was making racist and antisemitic tweets as well as supporting people like Tommy Robinson. What Barr said was truly vile. Nevertheless, Obama didn't demand that she should be fired. Neither did the FCC, to the best of our knowledge, try to pressure the company to cancel her show.
On the other hand, Kimmel was making fun of the president and his followers, not of Kirk, while very clearly condemning the murder. The FCC made direct threats to make life uncomfortable for his company if he wasn't fired and the US president himself has demanded not only his firing, but also other people with critical/unflattering takes of him, such as Seth Myers and Jimmy Fallon.
How are these two situations anything like each other?
Yes there's certainly a difference when we've seen the president (and his coterie) wade into these areas, including suggesting journalists should be fired after asking questions he doesn't like, or that media organisations should be investigated for links to "Antifa"... of course, he's just joking isn't he? Isn't he?
He's suggested sending Ilhan Omar, a US citizen and elected politician, "back" to Somalia. This is FAR from anything I've seen on the "left", especially from those in power on the left.

Johnson held a 30-second moment of silence in the U.S. House of Representatives for Kirk, observed by all House members. Following disagreements on the floor, the event descended into partisan rancor and accusations by both sides.[203] Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said that The Pentagon is "tracking ... very closely" any civilian and military employee who is a Kirk detractor or who celebrated his death, to impose punishment.[204][205] Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau urged social media users to turn in foreign residents of the U.S. who mocked or celebrated Kirk's death.[206] Elon Musk said in a video clip that "people of the left" were celebrating Kirk's death, commenting: "Whether you choose violence or not, violence is coming to you. You either fight back or you die."[207][f]

Does this means some kind of legal or political restrain to people's freedom of expression could/would take place in the US?

Apparently the Department of War already has its marching orders. (
https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/trump-portland-troops-deployment-1.7645661) Trump is sending the US military to that hotbed of domestic terrorism, Portland Oregon!
Quote:
U.S. President Donald Trump said Saturday he will send troops to Portland, Ore., "authorizing Full Force, if necessary" to handle "domestic terrorists" as he expands his controversial deployments to more American cities.
Oregon Democratic Gov. Tina Kotek responded by saying Trump is abusing his authority by ordering troops to the city, which she said is doing "just fine" on its own.
Trump made the announcement on social media, writing that he was directing the Department of Defence to "provide all necessary Troops to protect War ravaged Portland."
Hey, America. YOU are the enemy now. I warned you. Trump has no inner circle and no country.

Military has no training as police. Stupid show for a stupid country. Putin rejoices.

To be clear, the right-wing cancel culture campaign is not aimed against people who celebrate Kirk's murder (though there are a few of those). It's against anyone even remotely critical of Kirk, anyone seeming flippant, ironic, or sarcastic, anyone pointing out how right-wing political activists are exploiting the murder, anyone quoting Kirk in a less than favourable light, etc.
It's not even about Kirk though. After the murder, a lot of people saw their co-workers, even friends and family members going giddy with joy and realized: "I believe a lot of the same things Kirk did - therefore these people would be making smug, gloating Tiktoks
if I got killed too."
If you're an employer and you see this, it makes sense to get rid of such people.

Notice how this somehow wasn't a concern at all when prominent right wing activists and politicians were celebrating Pelosi's husband having been attacked and were making jokes about it. Kirk himself at the time said that the assailant should be bailed out by some "patriot".
It's performative corpse exploitation at its worst. Not that it has ever been about free speech or decency. Harrassment campaigns have been the MO of Libs of TikTok from the very start and Kirk's Turning Point was the creator of the (

As I understand it, he wants her deported not simply for disagreeing with him, but on the basis of long-running allegations from within the Somali community that she married her brother to help him gain residency.

It's not a stupid show at all. He's establishing legal precedent for using the National Guard for local law enforcement wherever he directs. He is simultaneously doing the same with active duty military in immigration law enforcement. He is also developing the capability to impose martial law without the cooperation of state and local police. He has 3 more years to purge the military and fill the ranks with loyalists who are on board with it. If he succeeds, he can control the polls in any city that affects the electoral balance in 2028.

[citation needed] - yes it seems to have originally been posted on a Somali forum, but that could have been done by anyone.
(
https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/ilhan-omar-marry-brother/)
"During an interview, Omar showed a reporter cellphone photos of documents from her family's U.S. entry in 1995 after fleeing Somalia's civil war. She declined to provide copies of the papers, which included refugee resettlement approval forms and identification cards, but they appeared to list her father, siblings and Omar by order of birth, with Omar as the youngest of seven children. No one named Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, who is three years younger than Omar, could be seen listed in the documents."
Seems she has been naturalized since she was a minor. As the article asks, why then later marry someone (for whom there is no evidence is her brother) to help him gain citizenship, when there are legal routes for siblings in any case?
I imagine she's been eating the dogs and cats too?
