I was just wondering what race most people use for their character.
Gender isn't important (although technically, being a female provides more benefits game play wise -think Nels Lando or Dratha)
I personally start with an Imperial, but that is due to the fact that my character always starts out as an Imperial Trooper in the legion.
P.S This is my first post on the forums, so hello. I have watched random banter here and at the official ES forums for some time, but have finally bothered to post something.
P.P.S When starting a new character, does anyone have a sort of ritual to get off for a good start? My recent characters all havn't bothered stealing, but I discoevered that by stealing everthing in the first office(and immeadiatley dropping it), you can move the Knight Errant in the second office, which give you space to steal the Warehouse Key behind him. I heard some tales of people who climbed the chimney on the outside of the Census and excise office, and was bewildered as to why they would put so much effort into such a simple task as to stealing the key. By the time I leave Seyda Neen, my character has 2.5k gold, a full set of armor, and three magic rings ( Engraved Healing, Nucciu's Cursed, and the Thief Ring found in Addamasartus, alongside those netch leather pauldrons) I also have at least 2 skooma, 1 flin, and 4 moon sugar to be sold to creeper/Khajiit
P.P.S Is there any other pieces of these sets?
Imperial Newtscale Light Armor : Cuirass (only found it in Saturan on a wood elf i think)
Imperial Dragonscale Medium Armor : Helm, Cuirass, Shield
Imperial Chainmail Medium/Heavy Armor : Coif, Cuirass, Leggings, Pauldrons (heavy)
Imperial Leather Light Armor : Cuirass
I have a complete set of the Steel and Templar armor (you can get it from quests)
P.P.P.S Funny enough, only the Imperial Chainmail, Steel, and Templar Cuirass' count when talking to higher ranking officers. It seems that the Newtscale and Dragonscale are outdated (the dead nord with Stormkiss in Sepulcher - where you get the Face of God - has all the Dragonscale armor on him, stating that the stuff is really old) and the normal, you're out of uniform, talk to me when you're ready, line constantly appears. While the Lord's Mail does count as proper uniform.
P.P.P.P.S Did the Eternal Champion in Daggerfall obtain the Lord's Mail? And, if so, why did it end up on Vvardenfell. And for that matter, why is the complete list of "Famed Artifacts of Tamriel" end up in Vvardenfell?

I've played a couple of different races, Imperial, Dark Elf, Brenton, and Redguard... depends on what you want to be when you grow up ;)
My current "fighter" (Knight actually) is a Redguard for the bonuses to some of his weapon skills. The Brenton was a Mage, The Dark Elf was kinda on recommendation by one of the FAQs I read and it worked fine for whatever it was I was playing as. :D The Imperial, well, just didn't know any better I guess (no, really, I'm just kidding... the Imperial is a pretty good character, and good at talking his way out of things too).

Welcome, I've got an account for the offical forums over at ES, but don't read or post very often as the traffic is almost too heavy, and these forums here at TTLG are much better for navigating around and reading what's new (without having to wade through all the old stuff).

I did the Limeware platter thing this time around, but usually I just take everything out of the 2nd room and sell it off for some easy cash (aside from the lockpick), get some armor and weapons from our buddy there in town and then head off to look for the falling Mage just outside of town (he's got some very nice clothes, and clothes do make the man/woman, as well as some other nice items).
From there I usually either do a few of the quests in the area or head off to Balmora and kick off the main Quest (gets me some more cash and the names of the Blades Trainers, most of which will give you something to get started, sell the stuff for cash or use what's good).
Beyond that I'll join some factions and do some of the lower-end quests (sometimes even keep going to the higher end ones). If you got the skills (and esp. if you're interested in doing Alchemy) I'd recommend to anyone that you join the Imperial Cult, start off with the healer quests as they are fairly easy, and they gain you some nice rewards, both from the quest giver as well as most of the people who you meet on the quest.

Not a clue, but I would guess so.

This kinda makes sense... goes along with the idea that you can't use homemade potions for quests either (potions that you're supposed to deliver, that sort of thing). To be honest, I'm not sure if the armor still counts as Imperial if you enchant it.

Well, if it wasn't in Vvardenfell, how would you get to read it? (I think it's to give some history behind some of the artifacts in the game.... maybe I should actually read the thing myself, eh? ;)

Welcome to the forum!
Short in time so I'll say 2 things.
I don't normally start with Seyda Neen, I go straight to Balmora, get 200 gold from Cassius and then head to Gnisis to join the Legion. I don't leave Gnisis untill the Talvanni wizard quest. I think Legion gives you a pretty good start.
Last time though i decided to clear out Seyda Neen. In the first room (the very first) I steal only the platter and candles (most expensive stuff). I try not to go overboard with stealing as it decreases disposition and I think still counts as bounty. You don't have to pay for it, but it adds up in the end. In general I have a rule - I don't steal anything (not very expenisve) that belongs to someone. Only thing I normally steal is gold - as it has no "property" attribute, meaning it should be mine.
So by the time I leave SN, I've done all the quests, cleared the cave nearby and (although having less items and about 1,5k gold), not underequipped with armour and weapons.
In this game I did not even start the main quest. Its day 70 I'm the head of teh Legion, Redoran, Thieves and Mages Guild. Just joined the Temple and living in my newly built caslte (plugin).
P.S. You can try the "search" function from CS. Thats how I look for things :).

The Newtscale and Dragonscale Armor's, as well as the Studded Leather armor are all non enchanted armor. They are basic armor types, like steel, nordic fur, or glass.
Also, I'm unfortunatly an XBox user ( hey, what am I saying. I'm a proud XBox owner) so I cannot download mods. I have Goty though, and intend on purchasing the PC version as soon as it comes out.
The other character based thing I like to do is use the beast race type/class from the microsoft site. They are half decent (cept for the Orcish Armorsmith IMHO)
You can find them here:(

My starting ritual is to go into the editor and drop a chest in Seyda Neen with a million gold and boots of going really fast inside.
Let's see the X-box handle THAT!

 Hey man don't diss the X-box!!! It's gre . . . . . wait a minute . . . . . :nono:
X-BOX :joke: :joke: :joke: :joke:
MIGHT AS WELL PLAY MORROWIND D&D STYLE (i.e. no screens just paper and some dice) :cheeky:

I couldnt play the game on Xbox.. after the 500th Cliff racer (about 10mins of gameplay) my brain would implode...
madphilb on 3/4/2004 at 03:00
While the cliffracers can be annoying, I don't find them impossible to deal with... my mage became good friends with Absorb Health (which kept me in full health as I got the crap kicked out of me), my other characters are strong enough to split their skull in one hit most of the time.
The two biggest complaints that I have about the XBox version is that 1) they didn't upgrade the journal with GOTY (issue with the memory/disk space or something I guess, I think it could still have been done, but that's just me). 2) they didn't include the plugins from the offical site, esp the one that added the guy in Caldera who would send you on quests for the various Indexes and served as a hub for the whole network.
Well, I guess one other complaint would be that I can't take screen shots, but a video capture card would fix that ;)

For my next character (me being fed up with Thieves... in this game, that is, not in Thief 2, to which I'm addicted for life :)), I was thinking about an Imperial "paladin" - a heavy fighter with a few magic tricks (restoration mostly) and alot of "charisma" (read: speechcraft; she'll have the "Lady" birthsign) - will start the game with 75 Personality.
Female Imperial
Custom Class: Paladin
Focus: Combat
Primary Attributes: Strength and Agility
Primary Skills: Restoration, Heavy Armor, Long Blade, Block, Speechcraft
Secondary Skills: Merchantile, Alchemy, Security, Mysticism, Armorer
Birthsign: The Lady
Roleplaying notes: A good person; won't steal; will help others even with no reward; HATES slavery (it's an evil practice and I'm using Juniper's Twin Lamps addon); WON'T SNEAK (it isn't honorable) but sees no problem with disarming traps/lockpicking villian's chests; will join the Imperial Legion, Imperial Cult, Temple (unless it conflicts with the Cult), Mages Guild, Twin Lamps and, ofcourse, the Blades/Ashlanders.

If this was D&D, you'd lose your class very soon :)
