I've been receiving a lot of notices returned to me for invalid email addresses. What this means is that existing members are trying to update their email address, the address they input is not recognized, or some other such error, and then said member can no longer log on, as they are unable to receive their new password.
A similar issue is occurring with people who have apparently forgotten their passwords, and are requesting that they be sent to them via the UBB... if the email address on file is no longer valid, they have no way of getting the information.
Now, I receive these notices back in my mailbox whenever there is returned mail, however, I am unable to contact any of the members, as, well, the email addresses are invalid. :) And I'm not receiving any personal emails from any of these people wondering what the problem is.
Anyway, the purpose of this post is multifold:
* If you change your email address, update your profile, so we'll have it up to date on our records.. you may need it to be accurate in the future. (Such as for requesting a forgotten password) :)
* Please make sure the email address you change to is a valid one. Many free email accounts, Hotmail among many others, will delete themselves if the account sits dormant for a certain amount of time. So you may think that that hotmail account you opened last year is still good, but it may not be. Double check that somehow.
* If you update your email address, you should receive a new password almost immediately (unless the server is down temporarily). If some amount of time goes by and you do not receive a new password in your email, please don't hesitate to contact one of the forum admins, either myself or GBM. Either one of us can easily look up your password for you. Just make sure to include a valid email address we can reply to. ;)
Cheers. :)

firstly, i'm a complete newbie to this forum, but i tried to register yesterday (username Happy), and waited about an hour, chose resend password, still no password was emailed to me.
so i registered again with a different user name (Happy2) / email address (bamber521@witty.com), and waited, still no email with my password.
about 26 hours after first registering i received the log in details for Happy, and still havent received the details for Happy2 (not that i need them anymore).
i know the server which holds the email for Happy was up, cause its my website, and i've received plenty of other mails.
great, my first post looks like a complaint, sorry :D , looks like a great forum though

We have had some difficulty with emails not going through to certain domains. I've been trying to locate and fix the problem, but not sure yet if things are fixed.
I re-emailed info for both "Happy" and "Happy2" last night, but I'll do it again now (from my personal email server) just to be sure you get them.
Any time anyone has difficulty like this, PLEASE email one of the Admins (Hanse, GBM, or myself MsLedd) and we'll be happy to send you your info, or help sort out the problem :)

Hmmm....when I registered, they said that I could change my publicity name, but when I went to "my profile" to change, it looked as if it was permenantly on my info, and I couldn't change it. I could only change the password, location etc. but not the publicity name, even though they said I could!! Could someone help me please??

We disabled the ability to change public names in order to prevent people from changing their displayed names every week or something like that...
If you want to change your displayed name, mail me with the nick you want to change to, and I can accommodate you. :) <small> <font color=f7f7f7>

I sent you an email about 5 days ago, asking for you to change my public name to Babybear, but it's still not done yet!! <IMG SRC="nono.gif" border="0">

I sent you an email on July 1st which is when I did it, saying that you'd probably have to post first before the changes would be effective.
Your public name sure looks like Babybear to me.
