I just made Patriarch of the Temple and was wondering how to challenge Vivec ? I also remember reading that it was possible to trap his soul with a Grand soul gem....is this possible or do I need to get the Asrus (?) Star gem to do it ?
The promotion came with some contraversy because I completed the " Four Corners " quest before the Pilgrams Path. They seem to all acknowledge me a Patriarch now -- some were saying I was Arch Cannon for awhile [ as they tried to give me more duties].

Forgive my ignorance as i haven't done the temple quests but are you asking -
A. You know for a fact it is possible to challenge Vivic and want to know how to get the discussion topic to initiate the 'quest'.
OR
B. You want to know whether it is possible to challenge Vivic as a legitimate quest.
You can trap Vivic's soul by the way but I'm sure you need azura's star to contain it.

Hmm.. just FYI, challenging Vivec isn't any part of any Temple quest. And howie, you should know better than to exploit quest bugs; by now you should be intimately familiar with how fragile some quests can be ;)
