Diego, all the way. Korenchikin was a weak idiot who caved into the Many almost immediately. Diego realized what he'd done, cut out the influence of the Many, and tried to help you out.
Finally, it's cuz Korenchkin was slimy corporate scum, and nobody likes corporate scum.

Diego may have the Heroic All-American Baseball And Farmland Apple Pie Accentâ„¢ , and Korenchkin may have the Lowly Baby-Eating Bolshevik Dog Accentâ„¢ but I'm neutral in the debate because neither used a wrench.
Wait, but Korenchkin made me run into a force wall and break my nose. Okay, Diego.

Korenchkin was a cool villain, IMO. When I saw that he had blocked off my escape, I was really pissed at him and quite ready to go destroy his ass. I love the logs related to him, especially the one with all the screaming in the background. "Glory to the Many... *BLAM* I am a voice in their choir..." That was SO classic. Probably the best log in the game even though it was so short.
But my personal vote of love and loyalty goes to Diego. It tugged at my heart once I realized that he fought so hard, from the beginning to the end. He was so strong in the face of his legacy; he resisted his father's ways to take his own path throughout his whole life. Then, even when the Many had polluted his mind and I thought he was gone, my hope was renewed by the knowledge that he struggled. I don't believe there was a moment in the entire game when I was so happy, not even when I heard Delacroix's e-mail on the Command Deck. I expected her to be the last human being alive on either ship. I wasn't seeing any more signs of activity from other humans, so it was all the more beautiful to hear Diego's rough, gravelly voice coming over the audio. I think I almost had tears of gladness in my eyes.
Then when I found him lying on the floor with his heart cut out, a great sadness filled me. I felt like I lost my last friend. I think I remember knowing he wouldn't be alive, but I hadn't realized it would happen like this.
No contest for me. Diego was my hero.

(Pardon me if I'm overpassionate here; I love Diego!) Also, I must add that no WAY did Diego die because of gravity reversal. That's utterly unthinkable, considering the evidence. Come ON. It is beyond me how anybody could believe such a thing. Not only did he say in the e-mail that "my position has been severely compromised" and "you'll see what I mean when you get up here", and not only did his final log say that "there was a cancer in my body, so I had the autodoc cut it out", but his frickin' RIBCAGE was showing. There was a very precisely cut hole in his chest. He was bloody all over.
If resistance had been futile, my character would've lost to the Many... but that didn't happen, so the only 'light' Korenchkin saw was a product of his diseased little mind. (Which is one of the things I liked about him; he was almost Karras-like in ways, a weak person who turned psycho when he saw that he could bully others somehow.) In reality, Korenchkin didn't die in a straight fight with honor. A piece of the Many did. There was no longer any real Korenchkin truly left in him, because the real Korenchkin was too much of a weakling to fight the Many's strength, unlike Diego.
Korenchkin succumbed. Diego resisted. We had to fight Korenchkin because he was too weak of mind and body to stand against the might of his foes. Diego was the only one on either ship who had the courage and the willpower to cut out his own heart so that you wouldn't have to. I rarely think suicide is brave choice, but he knew what was coming... he knew that there was no other way. He could either die as a man or live as a horror. He could either remain a friend to your character or become an enemy. He chose to save me from himself, and for that I respect him more than anyone else who fought against the Many's cancerous influence.
Diego was a true champion of the resistance. I think he deserves a medal.

I`d have to say Diego by a longshot. Korenchkin lacked any integrity whatsoever, and overall was pretty corrupt, way before he was even taken over by the many.
Where as Diego was pretty much the exact opposite. Strong willed, honourable. Continously fighting the many within him all the way. Was a real shame when he died. To go through all that and then by killed by a change in gravity totally sucks.
Wynne on 25/3/2001 at 02:26
Arrrgggghhhh. What is all this crazy talk about Diego being killed by the reverse in gravity? It's as silly as the supposition that Polito was the male dead body in the church and not the woman in her office.
