Hi. I think i have seen a similar question asked a while back but have been unable to find it so I do apologize for re-asking.
I have just replaced an aging CD ROM drive with a DVD drive; its on the same drive letter and set to master same as was the old CD. However, now when I try to play Thief 1 Gold from either the CD play menu or the desktop icon I get this error message. 'Please insert Thief CD #2 into the CD drive'
I have double checked to ensure that it is CD 2 I have in the drive.
System runs Win XP sp3 fully patched.
3 DVD drives (2 x DVD RW and 1 x DVD ROM which i set to master on 'D')
The game was installed and run from the original CD ROM drive which was originally on 'D' and was running great without any issues other than the cut scene stopping, a few days before I switched out the drive. (I didn't want to mess with this until I get these drives sorted
Nothing else has been altered and the CD launches to the menu without hesitation.
The only mods made to the game code was to fix the insufficient space error when I first installed the game
Thank you in advance...

Hmm, you might try reinstalling it if you haven't already. If you would rather not, try installing a second copy it in a different location and running it from there. It sounds like it got confused by the hardware swap.

Thanks I think I'll try to reinstall it today, though I'll grab my saved games because I've just entered the haunted city, one of my favourite levels.
