Hi, I'm new to these boards, but I'm told you can help. Whenever I try to play SS2, I get a message telling me to insert the correct CD, but the correct CD is in the drive. It's preventing me from playing at all. Help! Please!

The printed side needs to be up. :thumb:
Despite the distinctive warez odour emanating from your post you might find help and not get chopped into little pieces if you keep very quiet and search the forums.

Check my topic "Can't Get SS2 to install"
I went through the same process.

This one smells like a warez-guy. :erm:
I'm not going to help until we get a proof that you own the game legally...

Do we have PROOF that he does NOT own the game legally?

do we have proof that he does?
we don't know, and unless he slips up if his copy IS illegitimate, we can't know.

I see a bright future for this thread.

So... guilty until proven innocent, then? That's retarded. I can see it now:
STICKY: ALL SS2 SUPPORT REQUIRES HIGH-RESOLUTION PHOTOGRAPH OF POSTER HOLDING SS2 CD
If you're disinclined to help, the only excuse you need to provide is "just didn't feel like posting." But OMG WAREZ isn't particularly productive. If he came in posting "Hey, I just downloaded this from The Place that Shall Remain Nameless, and..." then I could see there being an issue, because any help given would be in violation of forum policy, but we don't know the legal status of his copy of SS2. He shouldn't be required to submit proof that his copy is legal, just like nobody here is required to help him in the first place, legal or not.

I don't care if his copy is legit or not: as long as he doesn't request support to bypass the CD copy protection, it's fine.

Something I thought of: Are you running any CD emulation/virtual drive software that might be interfering with the normal operation of your hard CD drive?
Have you installed any Starforce games, or used any Sony music products on your computer, either of which may have modified your CD drivers?
