I have checked the FAQ but I don't see this listed. What is the best way to capture a screenshot from a webpage and place it into a thread. My Microsoft help index said to capture the image as "save target as" but that option didn't come up. I do know that I will need to place it on my website once I capture it.

If you'd like to insert an image from an existing website into a post:
1- right-click the image and request its properties.
2- copy the complete address (URL) mentioned
3- paste this address into the popup you get when you press the IMG-button.
NOTE:Do try to restrict the size of the images (both in kb and in resolution). Not all forum members have fast connections and/or high-resolution monitors. (see (

If you want to capture a screenshot of everything that's on your window (your desktop, or a full webpage, or whatever), you can use the printscreen key. It's above the INS key on most keyboards. Then open an image editing program and paste (ctrl-v).
If you just want to save an image off a website, rightclick on it and select "save as" (the wording might vary to "save image as" or whatever, but you'll know what option it is).
If you want to post an image from a website on the forums, do as addink said.

Geoshitties won't let you directlink image files. Either rename it as a .txt and then link it as directed, or find a different host.

It works now, see edit note. Thanks for showing me the way to 'trick' Geocities into allowing a direct link by changing the .jpg to .txt.

Shis is strange. I've never seen anything like that. Why do you have to rename it? And why as .txt? And how, zum Geier, does one find out things like that?
I'm deeply impressed.

Claws: because geoshitties, to save on bandwidth, has a filter that disallows external linking (direct linking) of image files from any page that is not on geocities. They do not, however, have a filter that disallows direct linking of other files, such as .txt. Therefore, by renaming the image, you trick the filter. As for how you find out... *shrug* common knowledge by now. I was expecting geoshitties to catch up on it and block .txt too, but it's been unblocked for a year and more.

Angelfire .txt files are unblocked, too, for just as long. You'd think they would be smarter than that.
Even if they did figure out about .txt files, too, couldn't you use any madeup extension.....? Hmmm.
Here goes nuttin'....
