Battlestar Galactica? Wasn't that just a Star Wars ripoff?
The original, yes. The new series has little in common with it besides the basic setting, and character names. It's much more a character-driven drama that just happens to have spaceships and robots around.

if it's going to be set 50 years before the current series I imagine it will be morel like Adama being a fetus and his father being a civil liberties lawyer as the series previously established he was. Possibly some sort of LOL IRONY as Adama takes on the first equal rights for Cylons cases before the first Cylon war will be due as well.
Oh, 50 years? I misread TFA, thought it was 40ish years pre-BSG, so he would have been in his 20s or so...
bah...

Me and my dad are Watching BSG (almost done with season 1) and enjoying it a lot, but this...this sucks. Angel, anyone? The first season of Angel (which is actually decent unlike all subsequent seasons I have seen pieces of) corresponds with the beggining of the decline of Buffy quality. And at least Buffy had a full 3 seasons under its belt. And Family Guy/American Dad, anyone? Creative geniuses only have so much time, ditto with the people who work under them - either they A. Have to find twice as many people who are skilled enough to make a BSG-quality show, or B. Split the time and talents of the current time, resulting in both an inferior spin-off and the decline of the original. In other words, this sucks.

Happy Days >> Laverne and Shirley
I had heard it was a spin-off of "Love: American Style".

Just a heads up, the pilot episode has found its way online.

It seems that even photo-realism can't make Second Life suck any less.
