Ok, I know some of you have been playing this game for a real lomg time and I am a relative newbie, but what I'm finding out that I find not so enjoyable is the fact that there really isn't anybody you can trust in this game. Each guild / faction has its own agenda, which is cool, but then I think you should be limited to how many factions you can join. Off the top of my head I belong to the mages, fighters, and thieves guild, as well as at least one of the houses. And the Imperial legion, I think.
It is impossible to play "true" to all of those factions. I guess you need "to thine own self be true".... unforunately in my case I may have made that to hard for the character i wanted to "roleplay". I know that it is just a game and I could just change my character's way of playing, but at this point it would feel like cheating.
Have any of you tried to roleplay? And I mean anything other than a character that doesn't mind any form of killing, stealing....? If your character has no morals then this game would be a breeze, I would guess.

I tend to play a 'robin hood' set of morals; I only steal from the very wealthy (which everyone the Thieves sic you on generally are), and I only kill those who attack me 1st or if they're infamous, murdering SOB's.
The only factions w/ quests that can't really be fit into this are the Fighters' Guild and the Morag Tong (of course). I did bend the above a little and joined the Morag Tong, but the Fighters' Guild quests that would bend the above (ie: some Balmora & Vivec quests) can be ignored, and you can still Master them.

I AM a pure mage. So i more or less just relay only on spells, allchemy and enchant (when will i be good enough - cant wait)
The only reasonfor taking i sword is to sell it. And i dont wear any armor. That was one thing i liked more on daggerfall, the restrictions on armor/material.
But i have to admit, that i buyed some training in heavy armor to get my endurance a bit up. :(
Of coure i never never never atack first/or steal. (well, in balmore i took some soulgems out of some crates that are on the streat - but they belong to nobody i "think" :cheeky:
And as the superduperheroandsaverofall i of course help everybody that asks for it.
Well, i guess i do roleplay.

I tend to play a...well, I don't what to call it. Basically, my char is a theifish mageish something or other, but I only steal from people who piss me off. So it's not quite like Forsythe's Robin Hood, because if someone's poor but they annoy me, I'll rob them blind (all 4 slatrices), but sort of the same idea in that it's theiving, but restrained based on some set of rules. ANd killing NPCs is only for a reason, or if I'm attacked. (Creatures are another story entirely--if I see 'em, they get an arrow in their toosh or a fireball in their face. This was, however, a bad policy when I went to
Mt Kand, and killed the artronauchs from afar, and wondered where the heck I was supposed to go to answer the riddles. Took me SEVERAL IRL days to figure that one out...
:nono:)
As for roleplaying, I tend to stick only to house and race loyalties. That is, with my current char, I never kill or steal from a Khajiit and try not to from anyone who is noticeably in house Hlaalu. Trying to keep up with other faction loyalties is just too much of a headache, so I do the quests that don't seem blatantly cruel and go from there.

I tend to go by my current mood. If someone pisses me off I take everything they own and taunt them until I get to draw me blade. When in town I cant bother to go through all houses usually sticking only to chatting people and if that takes me inside someones home then I go through everything. Exception is the Telvanni buggers and their towers, those are always stripped clean.

I became the boss of seven factions, killed many a foe, and took what I wished. I wouldn't call it 'stealing' but rather pillaging. I was a battlemage, but because spells are only good for utility, I depended on mostly my axe and sword to do my bidding.
Roleplaying... I roleplayed as the badass.(which is actually rare from what I've seen. A lot more 'theives')
