Can't play Thief I and II on vista 32-bit

hey hi, I have Vista 32-bit and i've been trying to play Thief I and II but to no avail. I manage to install the games properly but then the problems begin

Thief I manages to get in the menu screen (without any videos) and then when I try to start a game it crashes immediately.

Thief II manages to get me in the actual game, but I take a few steps and as soon as I get in the house of the first level, it crashes.

I've tried using cracks and no-cd fixes but no results. I tried changing the affinity of the applications but nothing happens. I tried changing their running properties but again the same thing. I tried DOS-Box, but I must be doing something wrong because it says to me "Can only be run under Win32" (it says the same for several games that are supposingly supported by DOSbox)

Any suggestions?
