I havn't, I'll check it out when I get home. However in the meantime, another problem I'm getting is after about a minute in game it crashes. Any help with that?

While that may be true, it doesn't stop me from running SS1 in 640x480 or higher. I've run heaps of old DOS games which use VESA for 640x480 and they've all supported it perfectly in Windows. I don't know what you're talking about.

I just tried SS portable and nothing changed. The two 640 resolutions are still unselectable and it still crashes when I pick up the items from the first door.

Are you sure you're running the CD version? You do know that the floppy version is bundled with it, right? You're not running that by accident?
