I had The Witcher installed and played on this very PC, original and enhanced Versions, both by neat proper retail DVDs. But I had to reinstall XP so when I want to reinstall The Witcher I get a CRC alert notice after about 2/3 of the installation process. Says something about a "dab3" file is wrong or missing...
What???
tried this so far:
Install
- from enhanced version DVD
- from original version DVD
- from an image downloaded desperately illegally from the internet
Same results.
And then I made an image from my game DVDs to install from these, but there was a Nero problem thing, don't remember... any suggestions for safebet Imagemaking tools?
win xp professional
amd athlon 64 3000+ 1.81 ghz
1.5gb ram
radeon x1900

Make a full DVD/CD install of other games besides the witcher and see if any crc errors comes up during install. Try a few then report back here.

Ah, problem solved. Forgot to apply the service packs after reinstalling. The Witcher demands them.
Though Witcher and CRC is a common issue, as extremely thorough net research revealed.
