i know, i know, why would i want to? i just wanted to mess around again, play a couple of the decent levels.
trouble is, i put the disc in, the install window comes up and i click "install" and and the hour glass just appears and disappears. when i finally get board i click the quit button and it says its not responding.
the disc is a little scratched, but not that bad, and i cleaned it off. i just installed two other games before that and my dvd drive works fine on anything else.
has anyone ever heard of this? is there any other way i can get it on there?
oh, i'm running xp.

Check your security settings, I seem to remember having a similar issue when I installed it, I think it assumes that any program with "thief" in its name must be spyware. Annoying but manageable. Hope that fixes it.

i went ahead and copied the discs and installed it off my hard drive, which worked. i even played it that night and all of the saved files from when i completed it a few years ago were there. but i just went to fire it up for the second time and now the disc revs up and stops and it says the game "failed to initialize properly."
anyone ever heard of this? i suppose the easiest thing to do is just pick up a used copy and see if it's just my disc that's the problem.

ok. problem solved, but for posterity's sake: the first time i fired it up tonight, the disc wasn't in. i put it in, but after that it never wanted to start the game. i rebooted and double clicked the icon and it started up.
i guess it just got pissed that i tried to start the game without the disc and wouldn't let it go.
not sure if it's just mine, but it's a pretty squirrelly disc, nonetheless.
