I recently tried getting Thief: TDP and Thief 2 installed and working on my PC with no luck. I have a Nvidia 8800GT The game freezes up after attempting to start a mission. I tried switching off dual processing for the game on startup, I tried removing the ; from safe textures, I tried the DDfix (which the GUI gives me an error on attempting to run the application) and nothing is working. Manually trying to apply the DDfix using a hex editor results in a black screen on startup. I can still hear the background noise of the menu, and I can move the mouse cursor because I can hear it hover over the different menu options, but I can't see anything. Is there any way to get it working? Or can I not play the game with my current card?

Evening
What driver version are you using on your 8800..?
What type of copy is your T2, Original, download or Re-released..?
What version of Windows are you running?
What version of DDfix are you using..?

Doesn't look like anyone knows the answer, but i bet bikerdude would know. ;)
No guarantees, but i personally trust him. Heh.
As far as i've heard/remembered, it works on GeForce 8800GT and yet again - no guarantees.
I just posted so there would be atleast some answer to your calls. I'm a fairly useless member indeed.
Rofl, bikerdude you just made my day. :D
Didn't know you showed up lol.

:laff: And I've been scratching around looking for helpful threads because there hadn't been any replies and wondering where in hell biker had got to. You know you're not allowed time off, don't you, not even for good behaviour!

I was using the default drivers that came with the card. After I tried using a hex editor to manually apply ddfix I got nothing but a black screen upon startup (although I can hear the menu in the background) and then patched to the latest nvidia drivers with no real change.
Both my games are from the original CDs and up to date with the latest game patches.
I have Windows XP.
I used the latest version of DDfix.

Easiest way I think is to go to Start>Run. Type dxdiag in the box and click OK. When the information's up, click on the Display tab and you'll find the Driver details on the right hand side of the page.
