Well, I didn't see anything warezy about his problem, and if you are talking about me providing install.cfg, it is only generated by the install as far as I know so I don't think it is illegal.
But if I got fooled, then too bad that a new person gets to enjoy this fantastic game. :)

Bjossi already answered that. "install.cfg" gets generated during a regular install (which didn't work for kevin948).
The contents of this file have been posted here numerous times and you can download a working version from SBF.
All that doesn't mean it's a legit copy, but consider that the common illegal version of SS2 doesn't need you to create an install.cfg.

It is a legit copy. I couldn't install, and therefore could not get install.cfg, which led to a plethora of problems. I needed a crack because I had to play it from my hard drive (copying the files needed to my hardrive because it wouldn't install) and it didn't unwrap the exe. It may sound suspicious, but whatever, I can't really prove to you that it is genuine short of sending you my receipt from EB Games ($10! good price for a rare game), the game box, and the cd to inspect.:eww:
If you still think it's an illegal copy, well...

I'm taking no stance on wether this guy's got a warez copy or not. However lets assume he has a legitimate copy of the game.
Why would he then have these problems at install? What OS is he using, are there any other programs that are wonky with installation?
