The key to the Cavern of the Incarnate is (apparently) at the top of the Needle, which is a tall spire with whitish rock at the top (ie the Skin of the Pearl). The Needle is described as being at the head of the Valley of the Winds. I've been all up and down the Valley, but I couldnt' find any rock spire that matches the description I've had from people I've spoken to. Have I been misinformed or am I just blind? And where's that damn haystack anyway?

Nope, you weren't misinformed; you were given the answer in the form of a metaphor-laden riddle. Ask everyone in the Urshilaku camp about the prophecy; they'll clue you in. Alternately, search this board for "cavern incarnate"; it's been posted many times.

Also, don't get bummed out if you can't find it even after you get the clues as to where it is. The physical modelling of that place (in regards to the clues you get) is crappy at best. It's not one of those "OMG IT IS HERE!" kind of... terrain... thingies. I walked by it about 4 times before I got it.
So, if you can't find it, that means that you're in good company, or as dumb as I am; your choice.

I found that the eye of the needle part is best ignored, you follow the clue about the two rock spire things, and just keep going (you can see the cavern of the incarnate on the map if you know where to look)

I've found the Cavern of the Incarnate. It was the key that I was missing. Now I've followed Forsythe's suggestion and searched the forums, I've worked out that bit of damnably annoying wordplay.
There was actually a precedent for this - the monastery where the Dissident Priests hid out had a similar sort of 'key'.
Thanks everyone for your replies.
