I'm on it, but I'm gonna have to wait til later tonight before I can finish it, since I gotta head out in a few. I'll have to play around with some masks to round out the edges, tweak the shadows, and do other miscellaneous things to make it look really good.
Currently it looks like this:

edit: Changed it for the better. Gotta get rid of that tiling seam, and it might be decent. Maybe make it look like the stones are flush with the grouting.

This shows the slightly less grouted versions + a tiled vs. a scaled up original tiled (I had left off one filter before ... no wonder the colors looked a little off!)

New @ 128 followed by the original scaled up to 128 so that you can actually see what the original is like.

Automatic JPEG thumbnail generation?
The thumbnails aren't the problem, most of the images are tiny anyway. It's just too unwieldy. Maybe if I split them into families, to browse one at at time? But that doesn't give as nice of an overall view.

Hell, that's just about perfect. Add some fine noise detail, and it'll be great.

The color is now corrected...yet, after looking at the original, I noticed the gleam on the lower left corner of the blue tile. This would indicate that it is indeed meant to be a polished tile, rather than the rough, unpolished, porous stone.
That's where I don't agree. I think that is an artifact of the low resolution and this is not a shiny polished tile but instead unglazed. I think that what you are seeing is differing layers of grime as rendered at 32x32. I don't think we should over think this.

Yeah, I'd say it's a highlight painted in to give it a bit more depth. Everything in the KEEPER set looks sorta worn and lived in.

To be clear, your recent version appears to be semi-polished, while Renzatic's rendition is rough and unpolished.
EDIT: By the way, I love the way your version looks, Renzatic...I just think Larry's version more accurately reflects the original intention.

I just did a whole bunch of work just to get back to a slightly rounder version of what I had before.

...we need to see how it's used ingame.

I think I like the darker grouting that Renzatic has. I may try that on my version. I don't want to dirty it up as much though. I want to keep it more true to the original.
