Hello for those who do not know I am Canadian, and it seems to me things are going downhill, With the Stephen Harper Government wanted to introduce minimum sentencing and make house arrest history. Another thing is The cuts to the Aboriginal Healing programs. SH says "There has been no history of colonialism in Canada" your wrong buddy! Not to mention out treaties we signed are not being followed by the government! Selling native land to corporations, trying to shut down the FNUC. And also the sale of so called "protected land" to oil companies.... We will not have it. Our freedoms are also being lost. the 2010 olympics was a real eye-opener on how we treat our poor and or indigenous peoples. Increasing foreign aid while cutting back on social programs is another big no-no people in Canada are living in poverty in the northern regions, with no jobs, no infrastructure.
Some of these problems I have expierenced first hand! I am uneducated because according to the RCMP i am not fit to attend school, which i think is a violation of my rights, I also went to jail on remand for 3 months for nothing - I was not convicted of any crimes. where i witnessed first hand 90% of the inmate population is first nations. detained mostly for breaches of undertaking, of which the police can put on anybody! its social control and it has to stop! I see others doing real crimes living freely amongst us. this is bullshit!.
There are just so many problems in Canada right now.. so i understand why highways are being blockaded, police cars torched, and banks are being bombed ..
There may be things i forgot to put in here but hey, they dont let me goto school so i dont know anything!

While Canada is still one of the best places in the world to live, it is true that Steven Harper has dragged us back several centuries in civil and legal history.
Sentences for many crimes have been drastically increased and with more mandatory minimum sentences, no discretion for judges in sentencing and no alternate sentencing, the possibility for truly appropriate sentences is fast becoming history.
For certain crimes there is now a reverse onus of proof - i.e. you are presumed guilty. Prosecutors have a pretty easy job.
Got a criminal record because of a youthful indiscretion? Good luck getting a pardon decades later. As one member of the ruling party said - "The state is not in the forgiveness business."
I'll be remembering that next election time.

This might be completely missing the point, but why not start saving some money and begin paying your way through university. It can be done even on minimum wage. It sounds like your First Nations, if you're honestly concerned about it, you should get a degree in Native Studies with some politics thrown in (or something along those lines,) and start leading the people.
Besides, ever since the Quebec Act in 1774, the recognized treaties respecting the rights of the Native peoples haven't been followed. How can you still allow yourself to fall victim to the lies? Nothing is going to change from our end because our society is built to keep us in fear of the unknown, and the noble savage is the exact emblem of that. But it's time for you to take up the torch, come up with some new ideas and change the world. The world needs you.
