so when i went berserk i went and attacked mr.manderley and unatco HQ and he and the rest of the laddies seems to be invincible even after i've beefed up a little, i was wondering if this applies to all the police fractions such as the police ( i haven't got to that part yet) because i'd like to atleast by the end of the game, be powerful enough to wipe out the police, i'd like to march into their headquarters and destroy them utterly, one by one.
can i do that by the end of the game? or are all police fraction invincible like mr.manderley?
thanks a lots

Yes. Just bring lots of bullets, explosives, emps and grab the DTS

Quite simply, anyone essential to the plot is invincible....until they are no longer essential to the plot. If you were able to wipe out your boss and all your coworkers on day one, it would leave you with an awful lot of not doing anything else for the rest of the game.:D
And the HK police are very much not essential to the plot.

i like to see a dev address that sometime in a game. not in a way that they give you a "GAME OVER" but that you just utterly FAIL to kill them. some kind of failsafes no matter where you encounter them....
e.g.: you start to shoot a plot-important NPC on a street:
Car pulls up, NPC jumps in, gets driven away, you end up in a fight with police, henchmen and so on, factions hate you - others love you. assassination attempt should have influence as well, not only successful kills.
this is rather complex and certainly tricky and hard to convincingly pull off in a videogame but that you could/should take that into account would be a clear sign of greatness in my eyes.
e.g. You start shooting agents in unatco:key personell will be evacuated before you arrive there (say key NPCs on different floors disappear immediately) but if you sneak into a room, pile up 300 bombs under the table of manderley, leave, wait for him to return and then detonate them:
MISFIRE. or the moment you get into safe range the signal gets cut off.
that would take a lot of thinking to get right but it "could" pay off in the long run. a game where you can do WHATEVER you want without getting into no-solution scenarios.
I would even do a cutscene for the main character being put to trial and executed if need be (say I massacre 2 kindergarden school buses and the president)

OH and bring a sniper rifle. There is even one in a convenient snipers nest on one of the condos in Hong Kong. Try throwing a tear gas grenade down once the police show up for easy pickings. Just be careful when robots start firing action missiles at you. :thumb:

That game already exists and it's called "The nameless mod". You might have heard of it, I think it was slightly inspired by Deus Ex.

To be fair you can't kill Phas or KK (or scara, really). And believe me they had to jump through some hoops to make it as possible as it is.
But yeah, definitely give it a go, people!
(also it has me in it ;))

And can we kill you? :p

never heard of it and sure did not play it 2 times. you know, I don't like Deus Ex, it's a shit game and its mods don't interest me since they have the biggest pile of shit game on the planet as a basis. Yeah, and their fans are all pseudo-intellectual snobs that would vote Hitler into parliament only to complain and leave the country afterwards.that and TNM came pretty close but I was thinking about much bigger things like whole cutscenes, gameplay and surprise-developments like mini-levels dynamically inserted into any situation you are in that make 100% sense. that is something you usually only see in tightly orchestrated linear games that go for maximum cinematic effect. I would love to see someone incorporate as a "side-feature" in a game, like, it should be standard.

roger that, will try it then, i've been wanting to go on sprees with my boyfriend for quite some time now since this game and system shock made quite the memory for us back in high school 6 years back, we always wanted to just shoot and kill everybody there, he's been really sick lately but the doctor told me he would be fine after some tests, i really hope we can try it out once he gets better soon. yeah i'm geeky just like him, i remember the best part of rouge squadron II for the Gamecube was trying to shoot all the friendly ships and fellow x-wings down just to see what happens and we never follow the mission, i remember suggesting putting hundreds of landmines in mr.manderley's desk and blow it up, but he still killed us afterwards, it was good laughs, it was indeed.
