I tried running the dark project on my windows 11 but every time i try it doesn't work. thief gold and the metal age work good on my computer but tdp doesn't. can anyone help :(

For me, it appears to work fine with the "NewDark" update.
I can also run it with the "Old Dark" engine but for some reason the only way I can get it to play videos is by running it 'as an administrator'… and the gamma slider has no effect. [Edit : and of course I had to apply a fix to force it to use only 1 CPU core, to avoid it crashing to desktop.]

Hi sorry i didnt give enough info ill give more now, I have the iso for the dark project and in it has the setup but when i try to install it loads for a sec then nothing happens. not sure if its just this version i got or its every version. you also said you got it to work with the new dark update. How can I do the same and also will i need to install certain drivers for it to work.

Maybe Thief Gold has an updated installer that works on x32 & x64 systems. But most if not all of the old 8 / 16 bit & some 32 bit installers simply do not work at all even with hacks on modern Windows. Use Tfix for Thief 1 ((

Using TFix is indeed the easiest way to install the game and update it with NewDark at the same time.
It also brings optional updates, that can change the gameplay a bit (such as the ability to put out candles which could not be interacted with in the original game) or not as much (like improved textures, object models…) and a few tweaks here and there.
Since it appears you already have a working copy of Thief Gold, you could also consider the option of making a copy of its folder, and applying (

The current version will keep NewDark if it's already installed (which is recommended), though lately I've been working on making one that lets the user choose if they really want to restore the OldDark engine. Planning to release that one in a few days.

ok thanks for your response. I used GoldToDark like you said and its a very cool patch so I think Ill mess around with that.
