Hello everyone !
Well, I´m going to start playing Oblivion !
I´m a Thief fan. And in Thief hardcore players on expert mode never kill a single thing, even zombies if they really want to play hard.
So is it possible to beat Oblivion´s Main Quest without causing a single death ? Can you sneak throught everything ?
Peanuckle on 29/8/2007 at 23:25
You have to kill Mankar Camaron in order to get out of Paradise and recover the Amulet of Kings. You also have to kill the four skeleton guards in Sancre Tor to get the armor of Tiber Septim. If you don't wanna lose all your stuff, then you'll have to either kill the dude who takes all your stuff in the Secret Shrine of Dagon, or become a master of sneak so u can steal it back. I can't think of any others right now.
I highly recommend the Thieves' Arsenal mod if you want to play a stealthy oblivion. Gives you a blackjack, water arrows, gas arrows, etc.

Cool, does it work with Oscuro´s Oblivion Overhaul mod ?

It's been done - the trick is to get the characters to kill each other for you. Someone wrote up a walkthrough, including screenshots telling how they'd done it. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to exist on the Internet any more, but luckily I saved a local copy of it.
So here is, best to be read once you've completed the game - it's much funnier then.
A Cowards Walkthrough of Oblivion: The Hightailed Adventures of Felix Whiteflag
"Natural selection saw to it that professional heroes who at a crucial moment tended to ask themselves questions like "What is my purpose in life?" very quickly lacked both." - Terry Pratchett, Interesting Times
"“It is better to be a coward for a minute than dead for the rest of your life” - Irish Saying
This is an attempt to complete the main quest of the Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion... without killing ANYBODY. At least not so that it counts as a kill to the game.
Part One: Tutorial
Escaping the Imperial Prison
Prison. A cold hall of misdemenours whose dark corners mourn a memory of justice. A memory decomposing quicker with the incarceration of Felix Whiteflag, once again imprisoned, quite simply because nobody else knew what to do with him. The only person volunteer to be imprisoned since it was common knowledge the prisons were a safer place to eat and sleep than most houses.
Some dunmer was whispering mocking insults at him... again.. he'd done the whole "would kitty like a rat to eat" line last time he was arrested and clearly couldn't tell the difference that it was the same "kitty" he was mocking this time. On the plus side, there were at least 2 solid oak doors, and a metal grid protecting Felix from the evils of the world.. or more precisely El-Hazirr and a few over-mature debts. Felix was comfy here, he knew the guards well, and despite the Dunmer's petty words, knew he would get decent treatment and a similar meal to the guards themselves. The advantage of owing a lot of debts, is that the more recent debts are keen to keep you alive and protect you from the older debts who got sick of waiting.
Voices. Didn't sound like guards.. Felix sulked in the corner, looking for a comfy spot to curl up and sleep. Seems the rude voices whom had intruded were not going away.
The cell door opened, and armed guards entired followed by a rather decrepit old man in ermine robes with an enterprising look on his face between his two cling ons.
"Aaah Crap," muttered Felix, "If you've come about a destiny and great adventure.. you can leave right now."
Admittedly they didn't seem to interested, but as per usual the figure in Ermine robes introduced himself as Uriel Septim and started announcing in a grandiloquent manner that he knew Felix from his dreams. As per usual, Felix knew this to be a lie. 99% of people recognised him from behind, shrinking rapidly rather than face to face.
Uriel Septim kept giving him funny looks as one of the armed guards clicked a switch and the stone wall retreated to reveal a secret passage. Felix started to suspect that the guards had deliberately put him in this "off limits" cell, knowing this would be a possibility. Well, Felix for one, would stay right here.
But of course.. everyone knew he was in prison.. nice and safe.. so if he left in secret.. they still wouldn't know... he could travel to Anvil and wait out his days drinking in the nice quiet bars there.
Like a flash the heir of Whiteflag retreated into the darkness following behind the clank of Blade armour. Just as typically, it was the wrong choice... a pitched battle had erupted, and Felix had departed backwards. Luckily one of the bodyguards was dead, and she clearly wasn't popular as the other blades stood quite happily as Felix looted her body for weapons and armour leaving her semi-naked on the floor.
Felix finished fitting his new sword and turned around... that bloody emperor had left his "vision from his dreams" locked in a room... a deadly squeak erupted....
Rats.
Felix ran. The rat bounced up and down around him like an altmer on skooma, felix started casting spells of healing as the rat tore his rear end a bloody mess. Launching himself upwards felix dived for a ledge and waited there.
Now heres a problem... there are 2 rats down there... and the exit is a hole in the wall directly beside said rats. Felix knew he had to make a break for it or starve on this ledge and jumped to the ground running... followed by the rats... straight away another rat stared at him with its beady eyes. With the practice of years Felix turned tail and fled, jumping over his chasing rats up and around and back to the ledge.
3 rats. 33% more of a problem.
Felix made a break for it, shredded by the rats behind, and healing as fast as he possibly could. Spying a locked door, he quickly searched the dead body and retrieved the key and bundled through the door, the rats banging their heads on the rapidly closed door.
Felix headed for a dead sprint... and finally found that emperor again, intent on giving him a piece of his mind. How dare he disturb his nice safe cell and force him to be endangered by the beasties of this dungeon.
No sooner than he chatted to the emporer who seemed more interested in his starsign Felix decided that the emperor was clearly a few jewels short of a full crown and ran on into the tunnels. Suddenly assassins were everywhere and Felix took his chances by retreating back to the emperor screaming "Here Here.. He's the one you want!!".
Felix charged through the sewers like a Khajiit possessed and emerged in the sunshine. Guess I better palm off this amulet before those guys come after me again.
Part Two: Deliver the Amulet,Find the Heir, Breaking the Siege of Kvatch
Meeting Jauffre was a curiosity, he seemed intent on sending me off on a mission.. when clearly I'm an escaped convict who has already earnt his keep by delivering an amulet worth 1000 gold! A lesser khajiit would have sold it. At least, a braver khajiit who hadn't heard the stories about the blades.
Not sticking around in case this Jauffre fella has more dangerous plans, off to the nice quiet West Weald town of Kvatch.
Typically enough.. its been blown up. Felix offers to help out by making sure nobody steals their stakes while they go kill the scanks.. spanks... scamps pouring through the gate.
Nobody tries to steal the stakes, and the monsters get beaten back. Felix attempts to run towards Kvatch and trips up into the portal.... and boy there are monsters everywhere.. fortunately there is one soldier who Felix points towards the monsters, and starts sprinting for the big ol' tower.
The great chase begins, scamps and daedra everywhere, fireballs a spinning, but Felix keeps his head up and his back to the monsters and finds quiet respite in a secluded tower. A roar of challenge rings out and a daedra charges at him.
Felix sets his feet.. at a 180 degree angle and makes for the exit.... this damn lift takes FOREVER to start, and the daedra has caught up! Sigil Keeper you say? I don't care STOP HITTING ME! clank whack, the lift descends. Finally the lift almost reaches the bottom and the daedra is having a whale of a time smashing his club into Felix's skull... too much of a good time to notice the spike raising between his legs.
Felix had to wince.. he wasn't good at Daedra anatomy.. but he figured it had to hurt.
Taking his key and running up the tower.... Felix is out of the gate in no time. Grabs Martin by the scruff of the neck and legs it to Weynon Priory. Let somebody else be a hero in Kvatch.
Part 3: Return to Weynon Priory
Felix stumbled off his horse at Weynon Priory to screams of pain.
"Alright, who offered a million pounds for my head.. because these guys don't seem to give a damn about this heir", Felix muttered as he turned heels and ran.
Luckily, this "priest" happens to wield a piece of steel and sets about butchering everything in his path
Part Four: The Path of Dawn
Next up, Jauffre.. who has a thing for psychotic killing machines, wants me to go to the Imperial City to watch his friend Baurus(and my sarcastic friend) murder some people.
Why not.. sure thing.. anything to get the HELL away from that psycho-heir.
Baurus.. enjoys killing things. As long as their are crabs... and goblins... people.. he's not so hot at. After Baurus gets himself killed, Felix finds himself chased by the Mythic Dawn.... Felix hightails it up nearby Fathis Ules basement and out his front door... surely safe here.. in front of this charming guard.
However, it appears running out of somebodies house chased by an axe murderer is a criminal act in Cyrodiil(who knew!?), and I have to pay a 5 gold fine for it.
Fortunately in his rage, Raven Cameron attempts to attack the Imperial Barracks and swiftly gets himself skewered.
No matter, I suppose I better take this book to the Arcane University
Part Five: Dagon Shrine
Sneaking into the base of the Mythic Dawn was remarkably easy.. their security could do with some real work.
First I drop everything on the floor... and I mean everything.. I'm one naked kitty, and in the Mythic Dawn's horror, hurry to give me some clothes to wear and take everything away from me(which is nothing.. as its on the floor). Picking up my stuff I make my way downstairs, and stand next to Manker Cameron making funny faces behind his back. He takes this in great humour until I stroke his book. Grabbing it I make a break for the door.. which is locked...
Chased by the legions of Mythic Dawn, healing as he goes, Felix came across the exit, only to find it locked, and the key in the safe possession of one of the Mythic Dawn. Hitting a full return and charging back through some rather suprised Cultists, who then blow each other up a little in the attempt to catch Felix, a secret door shaped as a rock is found and Felix bounds out of the cave with just a single Mythic Dawn cultist in tow.
This one runs quite fast so Felix makes for the nearby bandit camp, who cheerfully mug said cultist. Unfortunately their loot literally disapperas in a puff of smoke, and the look to the nearest source of income. Felix.
Back on his heels Felix made his way to Cheydinhal, where the bandit gets taken down by the guard.
Part Six: Spies
Upon his triumphant return to Cloud Ruler Temple, Felix is hit with another task. Assassination.
Pardon? Why me? Jauffre gives him his psycho-monk look while Martin fingers his knife and Felix backs slowly out of the door. The first spy .. isn't much of a spy seeing as they run out of their hiding place just to try and kill a Khajiit running at full speed past them.
Even straight into Bruma where the local guard dispatches them.
Off to the house of the second spy and ... the door is locked.. of course, Felix left his lockpicks in the Dagon Shrine. Not good, looking for an alternative way, Felix recalls talk of a hidden tunnel outside bruma. Finding the Bruma cave, Felix heads indoors past the rats and straight into the arms of the second spy. In an abrupt 180 turn, Felix keeps on running back to the Bruma Gates with Mythic Dawn spy in tow. One more for the Bruma guard to deal with.
Part Seven: Blood of the Daedra, Bruma Gate and Blood of the Divine
In short, because the details are boring. A quick jaunt down to Bravil(practicing some Acrobatics in the bar for good measure) and the nearby Sheogarath shrine, Felix grabs some cheese, poisons some sheep food, and comes out with Wabbajack, a daedric artifact. Back to Bruma, Felix shows the guards the best way to run screaming like a little girl through an Oblivion Tower. On the bad side, the guard gets quickly left in the dust behind Felix, fighting unspeakable horrors. On the plus side, the Bruma guard knows teleportation spells that bring them straight to the Sigillum Sanguis just in time to distract monsters long enough for felix to grab the stone.
In Blood of the Divine, Felix hit his first major challenge in his quest for a pacifist's way to beat Mehrune's Dagon. Those Undead Blades were not willing to commit suicide.. being dead already. The first undead blade fortunately was keen to run back and forward through a dart trap and get completely pincushioned.
The 2nd, 3rd and 4th however.. that took some doing. After some serious thought, Felix tried to enrol a bandit into coming into the dungeon to help with the good fight. However a skeleton archer soon pointed out how weak that bandit was after expertly placing an arrow in the bandits unmentionables.
Plan 2 however worked better. Feeling brave(or at least more frightened of the psychotic heir to the throne), Felix ploughed into combat against the Undead Blades, hoping for their surrender. They didn't feel like surrendering, so on their final breath(or creak of bones) and severely weakened, Felix cast an enchantment of Command upon him and sent him to help him kill ghosts knowing fine well that if the Blade succeeded in killing a ghost, it would count as Felix's kill. Any ghosts that got too close had a Turn Undead spell hit them.
The first blade got mobbed by ghosts and fell quickly, but both the 3rd and 4th had enchanted blades which sliced through the ghosts in no time at all, Felix had to lure them both far away from the ghost army that had chased Felix before weakening them down to their last hit or so and letting the ghosts freeze him from a distance.
Part Eight: Miscarcand, The Defense of Bruma, The Great Gate, Paradise and the Temple of the One
More Specifically.. the long hard horror of getting Mankar Camaron to be murdered by someone else.
Felix once again was sent in harms way to Miscarcand, which actually turned out to be a bit of a picnic. Goblins everywhere where happy to dispose of the undead, and Turn Undead spells sent them a packing if they got too close. Felix ran in.. Grabbed the stone, lockpicked the door outside with the King of Miscarcand in tow and ran for the hills.. and ran.. and ran.. and the travelling minstrels of peril(ie Battle Music) refused to go away until Felix had got all the way to Chorral and passed out in a Mages bed.
It should be said, that this point had to be replayed a million times whilst Felix ran off to train himself up in a few spells. Making use of his inherited Frostcrag spire to create some useful spells
The Defense of Bruma loomed, with an assembled army of Bruma Guards(amazing how they managed to find more guards considering Felix hadn't bothered asking for Aid from anyone in Aid for Bruma), Felix sat on a rock out of the way with some mead and cheese to watch the show. Martin the Psychopath was in fine form, dispatching Daedra left and right whilst his hapless army stood still whilst being blown up by fireballs. When the Great Gate opened Felix ran for it.
The Great Gate. A fortress of military power.. which is remarkably badly guarded all things considered. Felix sprinted through one tower, through 2 towers, through 3 towers, out the door, up to the top of another tower, pulled the gate switch, and straight upstairs to the great sigil stone. It was all a bit pathetic and the monsters were too slow to even catch up to the retreating Felix.
Paradise. Hell on ... whereever the hell it is.
A fast run through and freeing a Xivilai in order to gain some pretty bracelets to be allowed into the Flooded Grotto, Felix started to build up a head of steam in his sprint. He left the cave followed by a small army of Daedra.
Within the cave, an Altmer offered to help him, and taking any help he could get, Felix accepted. However, once his bracelets were off, the Altmer charged at the enemy and fell off the bridge into the burning lava.
Thanks.. real helpful, now I just have a bridge with several daedra standing on it.
An almighty jump and run and Felix was on his way again. Escaping the cave followed by a Xivilai, he saw Ruma and Raven Camaron ahead, the hateful spawn of Mankar. This was a tight spot. 2 mages ahead, a Xivilai behind... cornered and about to die.
Felix took up the crash positions and heard footsteps run past him.
To his surprise the Xivilai launched himself at the Camaron family and a battle between them ensued. In the confusion, Felix slipped into the stronghold of Mankar Camaron.
Camaron said hello, with his Altmer ally resurrected and standing beside him! But Felix was already at his throat, unperturbed, as Mankar went to sit down, poisoning his blade with silence, Felix launched into the attack. Mankar in surprise jumped out of the chair but was unable to cast a spell. Ruma and Raven had arrived, the Altmer Cannonfodder ran to defend, and was tossed aside like a rag doll by Raven.
Continuing the attack, Felix bashed and beat Mankar into the corner, and finally stuck him once more with a poison of silence. A Daedra ran in, and also started to attack the Camarons, a welcome last minute ally, who took the attention away from Felix, and started attack Mankar once more, with Felix stabbing in the back, and the daedra from the front, Mankar could see his fate until Raven finally plunged his blade into the brave and mysterious Daedra's head. Mankar weakened and down to his last thread of life pleaded to his children to help.
Ruma in a fit of glee, and keen to outdo Raven's 2 kills called upon the heavens to unleash a lightning bolt of purest fury.
At Felix.
Who was standing BEHIND Mankar.
With a burning smell Mankar was lifted into the air and cast down upon the fallen Daedra's broken body. Felix checked his journal.. 0 kills. His pacifist ways had succeeded.
The return to Cloud Ruler Temple and the deliverence of the Amulet seemed to arouse the psycho-heir somewhat, and his eyes gleamed with the power he now held. We set off for the Imperial City.
Upon our arrival, the city was set upon by a legion of Daedra.... short work for the psycho-heir who plunged into battle. Apparantly ermine robes must offer great protection. Felix and Martin charged under the feet of Mehrunes Dagon, and his army of Stunted Scamps(Level 2.. a blessing for a pacifist), they charged into the Temple of the One.
Martin started sounding off again, mumbling away about gods... he clearly was a few sweetcakes short of a picnic he ran to the middle of the temple, and I suspect accidently broke his amulet in his keenness to be emperor. Akatosh was pissed about it and set about killing everything in the middle of the temple.. including Mehrunes Dagon.
So alls well that ends well... and with 0 Creatures killed, and 0 People Killed.
The End

Well, the guy's asking for specific instructions on any ways to go around killing them, so I figure he's either already beaten the game or read a walkthrough or two. Anyone reading this thread has probably done the same or is looking for spoilers.

It´s okay.
I will try the first game with thieving and then I will read your advices. But at least I know that 0 kills is tecnically possible.
Anyway this thread is already on my favorites. Thanks guys ! :D
