Everytime I nail them on the head with my claymore or other weapons, it says my weapon has no effect. How do I kill creepers? And ghosts - I'm assuming I need magic to do them in too. I'm at level 9 right now - nice collection of spells too, but need skills upgrades badly. What can I do to do them in?

Ok first of all the real name for the creature you call 'kreeper' is 'scamp' the 'kreeper' is in fact a unique named scamp who is non aggressive and will barter with you for goods etc.
To kill undead, ghosts, vampires (they are resistant but not immune to normal weapons) and daedra like scamps you have to use either silver weapons or magical weapons (or spells obviously).
The magical weapon doesn't have to be made of any type of material or indeed have an enchantment which is designed to cause damage to it's target all it needs to have is the shimmering magical effect (which all enchanted items have).

I made it to a level 25 dark elf and I'm kicking major a$$ with my Daedric Daikatana blade. Thanks for the help!;)

Since I restarted the game because of a quicksave screwup, I started practicing my hand to hand skills and unless my opponent's have battle axes, I'm killing everyone in sight. Haven't carried a single weapon yet except for pawning off to scamp in Caldera:D
