So I installed Thief Gold fresh and got the texture errors. Installed ddfix and then did the widescreen mod and all seems to be working including the movies, but when I start a new mission the game crashes with no specific error. Just a general fault in the exe, 00144dea. I was thinking maybe it's just my drivers, but when I go in dromed and launch game mode, I can play with all the bells and whistles. Widescreen 1440x900 is working great so it's obviously not a driver issue anymore.
Anyone have any idea what might be stopping the launcher from starting a level without crashing?

I think ddfix has some stability issues. I just started playing TG for the first time in years using ddfix, and it crashes on me every other time.

I just figured out it's the 1440x900 resolution that's the problem. When I set it to a lower, common resolution it stopped crashing on me at level start. So now I need to figure out why the game just seems to hate 1440x900 gamewise, but just loves it in dromed. I hope someone can help, perhaps I should mention this issue in one of the main threads for a future release. People are playing Thief Gold at much higher resolutions so I really don't get what's wrong.

Maybe try using the Dark Engine widescreen script? I'm using it with ddfix at 1920x1080 with no problems.

What's that?

Look a few threads down:

I think all it really does it automatically adjust values in cam.cfg and ddfix.ini, but all I know is it made everything work for me...

Oh yeah, I have it, that's how I got the menus running at 1440x900 in the first place. You do mean the mod that adds the widescreen folder to you install directory right?

Open ddfix.ini and see if gwidth is 1440, seems like you patched dromed.exe and not thief.exe

I have no idea what happened, but after running the widescreen setup again, the game is working in the right resolution now. I was more than happy to just settle with something lower, but now it's icing on the cake. :thumb:
