But that would ruin the open-endedness of it! The world of Morrowind is yours to explore! Limitless possibilities... and so forth.
Seriously, the learning curve is really part of the fun of Morrowind. My only advice is don't do anything too drastic and rash when you just start out. If you kill too many people or take sides early on it might be tougher for you down the road.
Oh, and remap all the keyboard keys, because the design that Bethesda shipped the game with is ass.

Aye... it's pretty hard to screw up in Morrowind(and when you do you get a message...)
I used the default controls =D

Errr what controls? There are only about six buttons, who cares which ones. :p
Depending on what kind of gamer you are, I seriously recommend installing a difficulty mod before playing (or wait for the patch which is rumored to have a difficulty slider), especially if you want to play a combat character (which are overly powerfull).
Not all players find the game too easy, but a lot do, and this certainly spoils a big part of the game. So if you think you are good at "beating" games, install a mod.
In my opinion, because all quests are "handcrafted" (in other words, every time the same) the fun seriously deminishes after the first time. The replay value isn't so high, so you'd better make sure the first time is the best. :p
Just make sure you install a high quality difficulty mod. :)
