Just had a thought - whilst I realise that there was a TTLG gathering in Cambridge last summer, I was wondering if any TTLG Brits (or non-Brits, if you're really keen) would like to come up for the (
http://www.cambridgebeerfestival.com/) annual beer festival. I shall be making a few visits, what with the university term being largely over for me by then, and I can offer moderate crashing space at my house for those who will need to come by car.
The final day, the 27th, is a Saturday, which is probably better for those of you of the money-earning persuasion, but any day (or, more likely, evening) is fine with me.
If Cambridge doesn't meet with approval for reasons of timing or repetitiveness, we could also go for another festival somewhere else. There's a massive one in London in August, for example.

WTF, this is a BEER festival. This is an opportunity for Serious Drinking. Don't tell me beer festivals got all new man ultra faggy :(

If it's like last year, it means there's a kind of creche-y area off to the right of the main tent. The manly section is off to the left as you come in.
Fear not, we can avoid the kiddies.

I shall be there a few times (probably Tuesday or Wednesday evening and Friday evening) sampling the range of ciders and perrys.
Be advised that many of the beers and ciders start running out late Friday evening so if you want a larger choice go during the week.

Wow, what a totally excellent idea :)
But yes, the best time to go are the early days, so if we can make it then it might be better. Registering interest though!

Though Fridays and Saturdays do have the advantage of not needing to work the next morning.

My evil exams are right around then :(

Okay...assuming d0om can't make it, that leaves us with five interested bodies so far. Hey, David, Milton Keynes isn't so far from Cambridge...
The start of the festival is only two weeks away, so we ought to get organised soon if this is going to happen. So, allow me to propose two dates:
Tuesday 23rd - Only the second day, so I'd be surprised if anything had run out. dvrabel has already said he'll probably be there then (and Friday), and I can go pretty much whenever. My preferred date.
Friday 26th - Hopefully nobody will need to be anywhere in particular on Saturday, so people can stay and drink. The downside is that quite a lot of beers (and ciders & perries) will have run out by this point (though things will be better than Saturday), hence my preferring Tuesday.
If you guys can give your availabilities and preferences, then hopefully we can arrive at a consensus. It'd be helpful to know when you guys can get there, too. If those of you coming from outside Cambridge can't arrive until fairly late on in the day (grr jobs), we might be better off with Saturday after all, simply on the meeting length front.
And hey, if this turns out to be a Cambridgeshire TTLG hit, there's Peterborough in September, too :D
