Is there any Shibuya-kei related anime? Because I'd probably actually be into it.
Edit: Ok, I take that back, I just watched some anime scored by Dmitri From Paris and it's fucking terrible.
I wouldn't have a clue. The classic Macross formula is basically "Space Pop Soap Opera", rather than Space Opera. Love triangles, transforming mecha/jet battles and Jpop pretty much.
In the original SDF Macross series, pop music is literally used as a weapon. The "alien" warrior race are paralysed by the culture shock and then the humans make short work of them. It's really corny.
Macross Plus is really the only one worth bothering with.

I wouldn't underestimate the power of Music.
For example, listening to Lady Gaga is enough to reduce otherwise tough, experienced soldiers to writhing on the ground in agony.

Pretty sure that's ecstasy, or at least an ingredient of it.

Since you guys derailed the thread, AGAIN, might as well go for another tangent:
Just say Vivian's profile and pic....holy shit, he's a guy!!!
And here I thought Vivian was a girl, bwah!
:D
Also, anime mecha for the win!
:)

Fuck anime mecha. That shit is so tired. The only anime that actually makes it enjoyable is NGE and that's because it's a subversion. The Big O was totally ruined for me when the giant robot came in.

Big O was an
excellent concept. If they had left the mechs out of it completely, it could have been so much better. That said, I liked it quite a bit, as the characters and story were presented just so damn well. It was thought-provoking at times, too. Well, after several episodes I, for one, was left contemplating the whole memory/1984 thing they had going on and its feasibility in the real world.

I watched the first episode of The Big O and was amazed. The art style was awesome and the story was intriguing.
Then the big mech came in.
I didn't bother watching the rest.

If that's the criteria, you must hate everything that had more than roughly two dozen people giving a damn. Or you're one damn hypocrite.

Now you've spouted some shit but that's extra dumb. I don't like giant mecha and think it's cliche and you think that means I hate anything that's popular? How the fuck did you come to that conclusion?
