Modern Warfare 2 is a symptom of a larger problem.
The game's industry seems to be run by 13 year olds who have a view of women as objective as Playboy, and who think that combat is just like it is on war movies.

Finished it today.
I liked how it didnt hand everything on a plate to you as you played it; rather dropping you into points in the overall story as and when they happened. It works and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Saying that, the "twist" with General Sheppard was a bit crap and the whole end sequence on the boat chase was terrible and I fail to understand why games these days have to have a button-mashing ending?
However even that was done well, and was cinematic and while the outcome was obvious its interesting what Infinity Ward have done - leaving the game as it does with the world totally fucked over - the good guys don't win (since Markov is still alive) and the two lead protagonists are half dead.
Plus the credits at the end were very fun to watch - refreshing!
Onwards with Spec Ops now.

Let's you and I make a game then.
Let's make a game where each bullet carries a death sentence. One where grenades can, if they don't kill him, make your character lose an arm, a leg, an eye or his hearing. Where your ammo is limited. Where your arm can be shot off while you're reloading. Where your cower in trenches with your comrades, and trip over the slick corpses of the freshly dead. Where stray bits of shrapnel tear your flesh away and spew your guts out over the muddy ground in front of your eyes. Where you can get captured by the enemy and tortured before they make you kneel before them and saw your head off with a blunt knife.
I'm sure everybody'll rush out en masse to buy it. Especially everybody who loves the war films.

Oh shit, a highly ignorant generalisation, you've just bested everyone and won.

Not all generalisations are ignorant, silly bear

That would be highly unrealistic, though.

There already is a game like that, its called Operation Flashpoint.
And it was awesome.
edit: except for the torture.
Sulphur on 22/11/2009 at 19:36
And it sold buckets, of course.
denisv: perhaps I should have said 'potential' death sentence, just to ease the burden this sentence bears down upon your pedantic nerve.

It's always been my experience that Playboy shows more respect to women than any other media outlet does, but ymmv.

Frankly, I enjoy fanbois and haters bicker and fight all around.
Loved the game, didn't think it was the second coming, but didn't think it was "merely average".
Mind you, that's just my humble opinion (something most folks here tend to forget...that what they have is opinions, not facts, at least most of the time, or worse when they treat their opinions as facts, olol...).
One man's Pac-Man's another man's boring game, eh?
I can't wait for the next PC vs. Consoles argument pop up in Gen Gaming, or another expected game turn into a bash/cum fest....never gets old.
Warning: some parts of this post are clearly sarcasm, others, not so much.
