I really hope they sell poorly, so IW can learn their lesson or at least join the ranks of developers bemoaning the PC market. One way or another the message has to be that this just doesn't fly.
Doesn't really work that way, unfortunately.
If it sells well on PC, they realize they can continue to treat the PC gamers like shit.
If it sells poor on PC, it justifies their massive focus on consoles and limited development effort on PC-centric features.
But it's kind of a moot point since I'm sure it's at the top of the PC sales charts.

Haha, L4D, seriously?
1. The Survival Pack - Released 6 months later, features that should've been in the release version and a cheap survival mode. Both of which could've done by modders in a fraction of the time.
2. Crash Course - two short maps which were made quickly to appease to moaners of the L4D2 announcement and a cop out in comparison to their original promise of TF2-esque support.
I only bought L4D2 because it cost $35 USD, so the total came out to $45 NZD, around the traditional price for a PC expansion pack.
Both of which were free. I'll take some free content over paid content, even if it is limited. There aren't many games that do this at all without charging for it.

Some of the same coders that opened the console & found how to show pings
(and ect) also found IW's next DLC offering - 3 new gametypes...:ebil:
Quote:
“/set g_gametype gtnw”
“/set g_gametype oneflag”
“/set g_gametype vip”
___________
The first gametype - “gtnw” - is Global Thermonuclear War. To play, simply capture the objective: a nuclear bomb. When captured, the bomb detonates...
The second gametype - “oneflag” - is One Flag CTF. To play, capture the flag in the middle and bring it back to your base.
The third gametype - “vip” - is VIP. To play, defend the VIP. Or, if you're on the other team, kill the VIP.
These gametypes were only tested on Afghan and Favela. They may not work for all maps.”
So it seems we have finally identified the DLC that Activision/IW wanted to pimp to us. It has been right in the game all along.

EDIT - if you notice the pings on the above link in Eva's post - most of us would majorly avoid a server where the pings were above 100 because of the possibility of lag - let alone the Host having the 19 ping advantage (P2P). No wonder they put the Consolie Bars in there instead of pings...LOL

That was posted already on the very page of this thread, but thanks anyway.
I hope that enabling the developer console (and using commands like cg_fov) doesn't constitute a VAC ban. It shouldn't by any just means, but knowing those IW pricks I wouldn't be surprised.

I finished MW2 last night. According to Steam it took me 6.2 hours, and I'm assuming that includes the 9 minutes I've spent in Spec Ops mode. I have no idea how people estimate 6-12, when I'm fairly certain you could beat it in 4 if you play games at a less leisurely pace than I do.
The campaign is...ok. I'd rate it higher than WaW, because the removal of spawn triggers and grenade spam is great. I'd rate it lower than Cod1/2/4 though, for a variety of reasons including - a.) completely far fetched plot (why not just make a fucking sci-fi game, jesus) b.) complete removal of the "multiple objectives that can be completed in any order" thing that they introduced in 2 and used in 4 and c.) seeming lack of any coherence between missions. Towards the end things come together a little, but I preferred the previous CoD games where most of the story was told during the missions, with snippets of dialog in between providing more exposition.
On my personal game review scale it would be somewhere around here:
oral sex --- the beatles --- baseball --- games involving looking glass or papyrus alumni --- M&M's --- action RPG's (FPS or otherwise) --- thin, greasy pizza --- CoD2 --- MW --- CoD --- rush hour traffic --- **MW2** --- castration without anesthesia -- WaW -- being hit by a bus

Actually the bus option would be more fun than playing NASCAR.

Ironically, I might actually be interested in a sci-fi CoD game. The series' game mechanics and "realistic settings" seem so divorced from each other with each passing iteration. Maybe the franchise could be revitalized by moving on to a new, futuristic shooter setting.
In any event, it'll be nice when they stop milking the Global War on Terror.

It took me 4 hours and a bit on the Regular difficulty and more than 7 hours on hardened. Frankly, I didn't see the difference between both levels, maybe I just spent additional 3 hours just dying? :joke:
