If you remember, I was wondering at what level you were able to complete this quest, the one with the 4 Telvanni agents. I am currently at level 3 and had a real hard time just beating the guy who was the lookout; I can't see how I have any shot at all beating the three guys inside the cave.
Am I just attempting this quest a little too early on? Actually I've had a fairly hard time with many quests. Since I am trying to truly "roleplay" my character avoids magic, and doesn't steal just to steal, only if he has a reason. I'm playing an Imperail agent.
Also, have I made a mistake by joining the Mages, Fighters, and Thieves Guilds? It seems at though there is definitely some animosity between them. Can you renounce your membership?
Finally, somebody told me there is a bonus in the game if you release a large amount of slaves. Is this true? What is it, if you don't mind telling me.
Thanks for your time.
Chuck ( BTW, I am SLOOOWLLLY getting an apprecaition of the game beyond the way it looks ). Thanks for encouraging me to play it a little more before giving up on it.

As far as doing it too early, that's pretty subjective; if you can't do it yet, wait. There's no penalty. And roleplaying is part of what gives this game its spice; go for it ;)
Re: factions, it's my opinion that you did the right thing there; you can find a careful balance between the various factions' rivalries if you keep your eyes open. It's too easy to piss of the Thieves such that you can't join, but once you're in to takes a real effort to make them not want you any more (ie: getting kicked out & making amends multiple times). One suggestion... be very picky about what Fighters' Guild quests you decide to do; the 1st few Balmora & Vivec FG quests are 'safe', but only the Ald'Ruhn and Sadrith Mora FG quests are all 100% guaranteed not to fubar your relations w/ the Thieves' Guild. If in doubt, Percius Mercius (the Ald'Ruhn FG chief) can give you the skinny on the Balmora & Vivec missions.
As to releasing slaves, it's mostly a "warm & fuzzy" kind of thing; you can get some books from Jubasha (Vivec, Foreign Quarter bookseller) if you free enough and mention "Twin Lamps" to him, though.
Luck ;)
