Strange to think that Gorbachev outlived him, I wonder what the cause of death was, liver failure would be a cynical guess. Or a sinister Kremlin conspiracy, which seem to be all the rage at the moment.

For a hard-boozing Russian like Boris, 76 years is a pretty good run. I don't think he'll ever be remembered as the smoothest political leader in human history, but it's nice to know that even in this day and age, brass balls and a couple of stiff drinks can still lead us to greatness.

I'm surprised he lasted this long, I recall a spate of 'seriously ill in public' Yeltsin appearances years ago where they thought he wouldn't last, perhaps he was just very drunk
