I'm pretty much set to buy a PS3 sometime this week, but I've got some worries about connecting it to my current setup. I'm talking about setting up the video, audio, and network connection. Let me take them one at a time, any advice is greatly appreciated.
VideoI have a 22'' LCD with just one DVI port and one VGA port. Now, I absolutely must have my PC hooked up into DVI, and I've heard that HDMI doesn't carry well to VGA, and it looks like that would be a rather expensive conversion.
I think I have this figured out, but I'd like to check - my plan is to buy (

Any comments? Should the connector types be fine? I noticed in a comment that someone complained it doesn't seem to carry full 1080p resolution, so I can't help but wonder - my monitor can't do 1080p, it's only 1680x1050, but that's still more than a 720p.
AudioI use a stereo Sony amplituner (STR-DE197), with (
http://media.obsessable.com/media/2009/05/30/rca-cable-300.jpg) RCA pin input format . For the PC I have a Y cable, jack on one end, left and right RCAs on the other. But with the PS3, I have no idea how to work with its audio output, the dedicated one. Does anyone know the sort of cable I'd need for this?
NetworkFinally, I have no ethernet cable available, the only one I've got goes into the PC. Can I connect the PS3 to the LAN via the wireless, and are there any hoops I have to jump through? As far as the reliability of my router goes, it's a standard O2 one, and I have had trouble with my XP laptop connecting to the
workgroup, but as far as the internet connection goes, that's all good.

Can't answer your first question, Ostriig, because I haven't used one of those switches ever. But for the other two:
Audio: The PS3 connector bundled in the box is a composite cable with your standard left and right RCA jacks. You'll probably need a switcher for that between the PC and the PS3, again. If your receiver has an optical audio connector you could avoid that hassle, but I guess you would have mentioned it if it did.
Network: Wireless works fine. I didn't have to jump through any hoops to get it working. It's almost completely painless to setup.

Thanks, man, that's very reassuring! No, the amp only has RCA input, but, on the bright side, it has more than one set so I don't need an external switch. If that PS3 composite cable can hook up directly to stereo RCA input, I'm good to go.
