Kind of ironic that in launching this site they're making crystal clear the dramatic decline in quality since the magazine's inception.

So what the fuck is this MS Silverlight
Microsoft's equivalent of
Micromedia Adobe Flash.

Yes, on the other hand they're releasing it for free. Which is a nice way to stand by your own tradition. I just hope they complete it because I'm pretty sure a bunch of issues are missing. (I'm looking for March 1969 specifically.)

Typical of Microsoft, always late to the party and yet still eager to shove their wares down your throat. Just like GfW Live vs. Steam/Xfire (both of which ironically ripped off Xbox Live in the first place).

How the fuck is Steam a ripoff of XBL?

Yes, that's the most notable irony of Playboy, distinguishing it from many other lifestyle mags for bored gentlemen: feature articles about socially critical thinkers and beginnings of authors such as Ray Bradbury, interlaced by pictures of fast food sexual products.

*sigh* I thought this would've been obvious to anyone clued into both the PC and console markets?

So has your opinion of Steam changed since it became a carbon copy of Xbox Live, with the v3.0 update to the client?
You've got an integrated friends list overlay; Steam Community profiles that are like XBL Gamertags (and Myspace-esque social websites to a lesser extent), that display your gameplay stats; the ability to join your friends if they have a MP game in progress.
Oh yeah, Achievements and instant messaging of Steam Community friends from within aforementioned overlay.
The Steam v3.0 client update occurred around Oct '07. Xbox Live in its current iteration has been around since well, the 360's launch in Q4 2005.

Haha. Funny, from a programmers perspective, I actually find Silverlight quite awesome and exciting. The only reason people are against it, really, is that there already is a set standard (Flash) which people don't want to change. That and it's microsoft so it means its inherently bad, right?

Also from a programmers perspective :cheeky: I've never heard of Silverlight and there's a good reason why: Micowho? wrote it;) you know, the same guys that wrote the browser that crashes by the time you get to www. in the url box, because for some ungodly reason you MUST write (
http://www). before the website:weird: (atleast in the version I'm running).
