Here we go (please see this as constructive critic - there are really no big or important bugs, only small things)

Can't install the German demo when the English one is installed. You get only "Repair" or "Remove". I hacked a bit, but couldn't it convince to install, so I had to uninstall the English demo.

Sometimes you see triangles/faces that are completely gray, usually "backsides" of stones. Not sure why, I can post screenshots.

The fog in the second underground level (not jail) seems to be just too close. Also, it looks unnatural (just a flat gray). The fog in the fort was okay (it faded to black and was quite far)

When re-starting the game, the button "weiterspielen" could be active, loading the last save game (just a wish ;)

mice can eat cheese that rests on a table by sitting under the table!

lizzy complains that I should go away or drop something, but it is okay for a mouse to eat all the cheese beside lizzies foot without her noticing - LOL (She didn't thank me for killing the mouse, of course...)

You get "reset" to a certain position when talking to someone. Bad when you stand beside Lizzy, and are suddenly teleported to the other side of the counter. The same for the password door - game pushes you suddenly one meter back. Hm?

Items dropped are way to big. The pickaxe is as big as a soldier on the ground. Also, an apple looked like a melon. I have made a screenshot, not sure why this happens, since it seems not to happen all the time, e.g. some items are okay, others not.

I hate that the game is censored *sigh*

Water bottles are green in the world, but blue (better) in the inventory. On the shelves they look very unhealthy ;)

Still can't make Pizza ;)

One of the small spiders (the first one) fell trough the floor and attacked me from there beeing effectively invisible. By trying to catch here, I got stuck in the small green watery place with the metal plate covering it. It took me quite some minutes to "unfreeze" my character (I thought I got stuck completely, but forgot to save for a long time, so I didn't want to loose my game).

Btw, the game is rocksolid! Not one crash in the entire time!
That's all I found for now - not much you see.
Have fun!
[spoiler]
You can repair items more than one time, and each time Am declares that he can't repair it further, and degrades it a bit more. And then happily repeats it again if you click the amboss ;)

First things first:
Congrats to the team! you guys did a really great job. Arx runs very smoothly now... \o/
buglet to add to the list:

absence of readme file...: I have an ATI board, and it took me a couple of tries before I figured out that I needed to set "softfog=1" in the ini-file to circumvent the blackscreen error.

BTW I love the new "forcezbias" setting: the zbuffer in my card is weird and a lot of games can't handle it well, but ARX now does!

Can't install the German demo when the English one is installed. You get only "Repair" or "Remove". I hacked a bit, but couldn't it convince to install, so I had to uninstall the English demo.
This is because the installer is written using Installshield 6 with what's caled 'maintenance mode' enabled (it's the default behaviour for programs written with version 6). The installation is identified by a Windows GUID, and info about the installation is stored in a folder on your system (deleting this folder will just mean you can't uninstall it properly).
Once you've installed it you can't run another installer from scratch which has the same GUID - maintenance mode is initialised instead.
There are lots of ways to avoid maintenance mode when you're writing the installer (therefore allowing the user to reinstall the app over the top of itself or to a different location), but if it is used then the only way you, as the end user, can install again (or install a different version, assuming the same GUID is used) is to uninstall the other one first.
Sorry if this strikes anyone as completely pointless... :p
I've just started downloading it so I can't comment on the other things.

>- which graphic card do you have ?
GF 3 Ti 200
>- try to increase fog distance
I did to the maximum, even restarted the game. No avail.
>- to be teleport is maybe better than to be stick in the wall...
Why not just stand still were you are like in the old demo?
>- mices bug...
;o)
>- wait for international version in september !
I'll do, anyway.
Cheers!

My english demo was on a hard drive long since removed from my PC, now formatted and put on display in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying 'Beware of the Leopard.' There is no chance of me uninstalling it.
Does anyone know how I can play the new demo?

A few answers to questions:
-To uninstall : use regedit and delete the entry HK_local machine/software/arkane studios, also, make sure to delete the previous files on the hard drive (savegames, cfg.ini...)
-About the fog distance: I realise it is confusing, but there are some zones where the fog is set to a distance by the designers. There are not a lot of them, the abandonned goblin area with the spiders is one of them. These are zones where we deliberately don't want the player to see above a few feet away. So setting the fog to max distance won't have any effect in these particular zones.
-About the teleporting when talking to the barkeeper: here again, these are rare situations where we made this choice, it doesn't happen often, the bar is one of them. I see how we could change this one, but the testers never complained, so...

Thanks for the reply, Raf.
I removed the registry keys, and my Arx folder is long gone (does it install files anywhere else?). It now asks me for the folder to install the demo in, but when I click through it gets a fatal error and stops...
Raf on 22/6/2002 at 08:11
mm... never seen this one before... A fatal error ? like a windows popup when a crash occurs ? sounds like a WISE installer issue...
Are you running win2000 ? I've noticed some problems when using win2000 and not being logged as full administrator.
Did you try different paths ? does it crash no matter what path you choose ?

Ah, okay! Didn't know that. Now, if you only could change the fog to something not so ugly ;)))
