I got the effect (5 Drain Int or something like that) so it's not just a notification error.
I cured the disease after making a Drain (some attribute) spell so I'd have the effect available later on though :p

I am around the 100 hour play mark, and the only bug I'm encountering with any regularity is the "get randomly thrown out of guilds for no reason" which is quite annoying. I'll be fighting some bandit or other kind of do-badder and up flashes a notice telling me I've been expelled from X guild for thieving/breaking a tenet/whatever blag reason.
Just before, I got thrown out of three guilds at once (DB, Thieves Guild, Mages Guild) after looting the corpse of a bandit .
Otherwise, Oblivion is surprisingly bug-light compared to Morrowind, with nowhere near as many CTDs :D. Maybe they actually got some beta testers this time?

I have an M-Audio 2496 PCI sound card, and just recently got an Edirol UA-25 USB audio interface, and neither work well with Oblivion (or Morrowind for that matter). The sound tends to skip and stutter - it only disappears if I switch to my cheap little Soundblaster PCI 128. Seems that Bethesda games don't work well with non-gaming sound cards. I've experienced this problem on different computers as well.

If you are forced to remove a quest item you are wearing then the bonus stays.
Somebody already mentioned
the dream world
, but you can also do it
by following sanguine`s quest and using the `stark reality` spell
The ring of viper`s eye is the most common item to have its bonus remain.

Jail time also works for the Quest Item Forced Unequip bug.

Just hit a showstopper last night. This is WITH the beta patch installed.
In the Dark Brotherhood quest, you are sent to kill an elf named Faelian. After asking around you find he hangs out in an abandoned house in the Elven Gardens district (I think it's there). I went into the house, my minimap showed a green marker in the middle of the room, but no Faelian! I think he fell through the floor and now inhabits the void.
I went to a previous savegame and waited a couple of days before opening the door to the house. Same situation. I don't know when he fell through the floor but it happened before my last save near that time. The compass always points to that house, and the green marker is always there on the minimap.
I don't know, is falling through the void even considered a bug by Bethesda?

Markers don't always point to the person but sometimes to the area where you're supposed to find them. I think Faelian has a schedule and is only in the house at certain times.

He does have a schedule and stays with his girlfriend when he sleeps.

Yes, I'm stupid. Not a bug. You are right. I hung out with his girlfriend for a full 24 hours. No Faelian. I waited outside the abandoned house 48 hours (yes, that's waiting in 1 hour increments). No Faelian. Finally, I waited *inside* the house in 1 hour increments. Ta da! Faelian! I felt so guilty. Poor guy.
