Hi, I'm brand new to Deus Ex and am having a problem. The game loaded fine and seems to be running well, but when I equoip the pistol, I can't holster it with right click, nor can I replace it with another item by the number keys. If I press a number, the item I want is highlighted, but won't equip. I'm playing Game of the Year edition. Is there a patch for it or is it already patched?
Thanks!

I'd never heard of this untill a few months ago, and then the problem was solved by a re-installation.

Thanks Driver. Better to reinstall now than later!
Does the Game of the Year Edition need patching?

I can't remember off the top of my head, but if you've got a multiplayer option at the bottom of the main menu, then nope.

Did this work?
I've just encountered the same fracking problem. The pistol stays equipped, no matter what.
Version is 112fm (not GOTY).

I tried a reinstall (didn't uninstall first) and it didn't work. I used my saved games too. I have an inquiry into Eidos support. I'll post their reply.
Let me know if you have any luck!

I know it's an irritating workaround, but in most cases you can throw the weapon down (bound to middle-click/tab as default, IIRC) then pick it up again.

That will most likely be your problem. Do a full uninstall then re-install it.
Then if it still doesn't work try Eidos Support.

I finally got it working. I did an uninstall and the problem persisted. On a lark, I loaded the inventory screen and equippped and dropped the pistol (which seemed to have duplicated itself!). I picked it up and had only 1 in inventory and it's worked fine since. Thanks for the advice, Driver, Sheep.
I hope it helps, Deckard.

FYI,
Eidos support sent me an automated note that said you need minimum system requirements to run the game (which I have) and that it isn't set to run in windows XP so tehy can't offer me support. Sounds like a cop out to me, but at least I got the game working!
