Looks good, though it's more the megawad variety, and not so much in the gameplay changing or TC. I've always preferred those most.

This thread's made me realise that Doom is one of those iconic games that largely passed me by. Of course I played it, but I think that at the time I was much more into RPGs and adventures, all in all. Wolfensten, Duke Nukem 3D, Quake... none of these left much of a trace in my gaming life. Perhaps the first FPS I got into in a big way was Jedi Knight - and before that the closest was System Shock. I wonder whether this'd been different if I'd played more MP, because single-player Doom wore out its welcome pretty soon for me. As a result, I'm always vaguely confused when I hear people talking about how much of an impression the game left for them.

I think for those that got very much into the scenes for the 3 games, it was LARGELY due to the modding/level making scenes.
Doom stands tallest on the TC end of things imo.
In the case of the Quake, the Machinima scene was another high note for that game.
