browser issues.. - by Ringwraith

In the interest of having TTLG look its best in every browser, I thought I'd point out <A HREF=http://www.geocities.com/garinwirth/charon.jpg>it isn't so great in Charon</A>. (<A HREF=http://www.geocities.com/garinwirth/charon.png>PNG for Daxim</A> ;) )
Anyone planning to work on this?

Ringy, Charon's documentation says it displays only HTML 3.2 straight, but TTLG uses an invalid proprietary deviation of HTML.
<u>What does that mean?</u>
* Charon will only render pages perfect which classify as 100% correct HTML 3.2. This is a dimishing minority of webpages, HTML 4 is out for a long time.
* TTLG's design will display everywhere bad, only the extent is different. In Opera it also looks garbled.
The automated design tool used which generates the HTML on TTLG is responsible for that - it only makes sure that the design only looks in MSIE and Netscape-like browsers like the author intended, which is, of course, A Bad Thing™.
<u>What is to do?</u>* Ringwraith: Scrap Charon. Read on (
http://www.webstandards.org/upgrade/) http://www.webstandards.org/upgrade/ why it is important to use a browser that implements the newest standards. If you were a Windows user, I'd even recommend you using MSIE 5.5, just so that you don't use the outdated browser anymore(!).
* Digi and the other websmiths: Consider switching from ugly markup through tables and areas to valid CSS 2. Separate content from design and adher to the standards. For great interoperability

http://www.ttlg.com/forums/ubb/icons/icon17.gif I know, lotsa work. But keep in mind that at least in 1-2 years your method of designing will be considered horribly obsolete.<small>[edit: damn UBB markup]

"Interoperability"?!
Bha.
Domination! One Single Force Obscuring the Sun. That's what it's all about.
None of this "Oh, can't we let all the browsers play?"
Next thing you know, people will be asking us to reconfigure the sites so that they match their Window Blinds, or whatever shell nonsense they've cooked up... You'll be wanting us to choose the scrawny kid to be on our team when we play "Bash Each Other With Sticks". And other inclusive nincompoopery.
Domination. Single Force. For teh furtue!!!@
Ahr har har!
<small>GBM takes his tongue out of his cheek, mumbles words to the effect of "I have no idea what the hell Daxim's on about most of the time, but it makes me feel better to get all Monolithic on him occasionally...", and wanders off in search of something friendly and cuddly that he understands...</small>
<small>In case it's not ABSOLUTELY clear, I'm joking around.
