Search near
the village, and the big lava stream. Mantle up some buildings and find a bridge.

Thanks. But now I'm in Temple Crypt without rope arrow, trapped forever.

Okay, I need some serious technical assistance. I know this problem has been mentioned before but re-installing the game hasn't seemed to help me, nor has re-downloading and re-installing all of the scripts (nvscript, tnhscript, and scripts.osm are all present in my Thief folder). So basically the problem is...the mission seems to be broken. Right at the start there's no floating hammer, which I assume means that there is a major problem with the scripting. I deleted and re-downloaded and installed the FM even after I tried everything else and still the same problem. I really don't get it. Any ideas what could be causing the problem? I love this FM and for it to not work anymore is extremely irritating, especially since it seems to have stopped working for no good reason. :weird:
[LATER EDIT]Yeah, so I just uninstalled and re-installed Thief, the scripts, the FM, DDFix...just about everything another 3 times and nothing helped it. Then I realized that I don't think I played this one since I got my machine with Windows Vista on it. Damn...for all I know Custom Scripts have never worked on this computer. I heard that they had some problems with Vista. Unfortunately, that means I can no longer play any missions that use these scripts unless I think of some way of fixing this. Any help is very much appreciated. Not being able to play a good chunk of the FMs out there because of my damn OS is extremely depressing....like..."I think I'm going to go eat a whole thing of ice cream whilst quietly weeping" depressing.
Suggestions?? Please? God I'm desperate.

I remember there were some posts about this problem, but am having no luck finding them or anything very similar.
Did find (

So many damn problems with Vista...

I had problems with Vista at first, too. However, I think I got rid of them by telling Vista to open thief2.exe as an administrator. There was also a problem with the video codec, which crashed the transition from mission 1 to mission 2.

Hmm, thanks a lot for the suggestions! I really appreaciate it.
Unfortunately nothing seems to fix it. Not even copying all of the scripts directly from the zip file and into my Thief 2 directory instead of the versions I had. Broken Triad just does not like Vista.
Anyway, things aren't all bad. Right down the hall my roommate has a computer with XP installed on it. I guess I can just install Thief on that one until I get this figured out (though I have a feeling that downgrading my OS is the only real solution).

Well, I doubt anyone is really invested in my personal problems getting Vista working, but I managed to solve the problem with the scripts. Not only does this mission work great now, but Rose Cottage works perfectly as well!
The solution (for anyone similarly afflicted)? I installed Service Pack 2. That's it. I downloaded an update and Vista fixed itself- what are the chances, right? I think this is the first time I've ever downloaded a windows update and had it actually be useful. This isn't a sign of the apocalypse is it? :erg:

Glad to hear it worked!

Well, I expect Windows 7 to break the game in new creative ways.

I find myself in the catacombs, cleared the puzzles and got the staff, but nothing to place on the pedestal opposed to the fountain: how can I get out of there?
Thanks!
Found the way out.
