That corridor has to be navigated in a special way. There are some hints about it in a couple of scrolls.
After you've gone down the ladder, walk (don't run) along the corridor while looking at the floor. Always walk in the direction the scarabs are looking at, i.e. if a scarab looks into your direction, you have to turn around and walk back. That way you'll find yourself in a different area soon.
It´s so sad there are so many bugs in this mission:
1. When I started the map for the first time no spooky hammer appeared right after the beginning.
2. I can´t read the flower card.
3. The sculpture can not be "used" therefore I can´t change it.
4. When I stopped playing yesterday everything was fine. But after loading today I can´t read any plaque or signs. Books are fine.
After reinstalling the map I noticed the "Universe Hammer" at the beginning for the first time. After reading some of the posts here I hoped everything would be fine now. I ran straight to the director and collected the flower card.
Still no difference. I can´t read it. And the "I can´t read signs etc." - Bug did not vanish after reinstalling the mission.
Can you tell me how to solve it?
Dainem
My specs:
Thief 2 1.18 german Sat-1 version
Enhancement Pack and the ntex texturepack installed
every scripts (GayleSaver, Telliamed, Nameless Voice) preinstalled
Dainem on 25/9/2009 at 15:16
After deinstalling Thief 2 everything works fine now. Just installed the 1.18 patch and ddfix.
I don´t know which script was missing or did not function. The ceiling in the room of the "girlfriend" could not be displaced at my first try, and the guard in the Wooden Transport company was not K.O.-ed after opening the window.
Maybe/perhaps this helps finding the problem. It looks like my manuell installation of the scripts caused the problems.

Hey. First of all congrats on another great FM. At least the first mission was sweet, but I am stuck due to a bug in the second:
I can't frob the pyramid key and neither the gems in the secret below that egypt doggy statue.
The awkward thing is that I have a save right at the beginning of the level. I tried it with that one and voilà, it worked. Then I tried it a second, third, ...,100th time and I couldn't get it working again. Reinstalling the FM didn't help either. When I read, that so many had problems in the first mission, I also find it really weird that everything worked perfectly there for me, besides that fact that I tried to "crate" up to that secret lever on the 2nd/3rd floor of the museum, in order to find out that it is not frobable by hand, only by remote... But I guess that one was the mapper's decision!
Any ideas? I'd love to finish this fabulous FM. Ominious Bequest is my all time favorite and I was hoping to replace it this week... :)
EDIT: Now it appears to be completely f!$?ed up. I just tried playing a near-end mission 1 save, so I'd get fresh into mission 2, but now there is a problem with a cutscene. It's the scene after the evil keeper talks to posessed Garrett, where the camera slowly pans down in the church and shows the Daemon later. Well this time, I don't see any characters and I don't wake up in the crematorium afterwards. After the pan is finished, nothing happens anymore. It's a real shame... :-(
EDIT2: Uhm well, I just rebooted and now it works again. Maybe it is just a Windows 7 problem. Dunno...

Finished! Awesome FM! Together with Ominious Bequest you've got the playtime of a commercial game and I can tell you: playing Ominious bequest will be more fun!! :D I loved it!
But was there any hint in a Readable about Riddler's tomb? I only had 2 out of 8 secrets in the first mission at first, so I checked the walkthrough. I knew where two of the missing secret were, but I couldn't find the solution at first. But it's a riddle to me how to find riddler's without a readable. Who checks every model in the map whether it's frobable? :)

Thanks for playing. Glad to hear the mission decided to work correctly after a reboot. Windows Vista and 7 seem to share the issue that custom scripts sometimes don't work correctly.
There is no hint about the location (or even existence) of the Nameless Riddler's Tomb in Broken Triad. It's really considered something one would only discover after a few replays.

Love "Broken Triad" and of course "Ominous Bequest"! I've only played the Arkford part thus far, and here are some fun shots from there.
First is from the roof of the Museum Director's house:

Then seeing front door of same house:

A couple of other areas nearby where I could jump from roof to roof:

These last three are from the roof of White Cathedral:

So THAT'S where that slimy little bastard Lennard (I assume that's him)is hidden... :ebil: I noticed I can't kill him (or didn't try long enough), and he won't fight back, but he can be knocked out... :)
Other points of gameplay:
I only managed 5 of 8 secrets before looking out here, and for me the oil flask was on the desk right there in Sheila's office, right next to where I needed it. Convenient! And I think the only three bits of loot I missed (technically it was only two) were the gem in the solar horn, the loot for the "handshake statue" secret, and the ring in the basement safe at the jewelers. And I "missed" that jeweler's ring because, for me, it's unfrobbable. Might have something to do with conditions after the town's "conversion" (bwuhaha), like with the solar horn. I've discovered that if you don't get that big gem before the demon's free, then it's no longer available to you (poof! gone). Oh well. So those are the only two/three I missed then. Looking at that crematorium, I knew it was eventually going to come into play! heh
What a hoot this was (still is)! --Crowemagnon, man.
P.S.: Stupid website I use has had lots of problems/fixes of late. If these pics aren't showing for you, please try again later...
Eshaktaar on 30/10/2009 at 17:32
How did you get onto the cathedral? Did you do some crate stacking?
I'm a bit worried that you found the oil flask in Sheila's office - that means one of the scripts didn't work properly. The ring wasn't frobbable for the same reason, I guess. I hope all's well in the second mission.
crowemagnon on 31/10/2009 at 04:35
I think I liked the second mission even more...thanks for making that! :)
Sure, for the White Cathedral roof, used 3 crates to get onto the low wall opposite the one Lennard is standing next to. I don't know how to do the stair-stepping method, at least I certainly don't have the patience to try to figure it out (heh)...
For the ancient city, found all 8 secrets on my own, and the only loot I missed was the ring on the floor in the upper room overlooking the dead emperor's platform. Just some minor gameplay issues, nothing to affect the overall agenda/flow:
Probably started when I came upon the door whose lock was purposely sabotaged. So I tried the next logical thing: I blasted the door down (with a mine and fire arrow). :thumb: So I was carrying around the moonstone for quite a long while, always trying it different places to see where it worked, but never bothered to come back to the starting gate until Nyarsal had already joined me in town. I was also then carrying around two Aleph medallions, only one of which had that special power... when it came time to "take care of" that medallion (after the final teleport), then I found I only had one. What else? Oh yeah, that also meant that I could teleport through the triad gate ahead of time to get a preview of what I faced before all my objectives were complete. One funny thing I noticed then was that, in the final room, there was a high boulder suspended in midair on the way to the light & exit, and as I passed under it, it looked like only the outline shell of a boulder. When it came time to head there for real, it was no longer there. Teleporting: From within that room with the bad door and the moonstone, I "glyphed" into Aleph's quarters by the bed, but that glyph there sent me to the outer gate-blocked area of the Necropolis during the flying haunt rush hour. :) Was that the way it was intended? And one of the giant keyhole barriers remained between my newly-gained sanctuary territory (Aleph's quarters) and the two places I'd already been. That is, until I teleported out and came back again; then it was gone.
About the optional treasury goal: It worked in principle, after I finally had to read the walkthrough to find out exactly what to do. There were no "pink scarabs" on the floor for me to reference, but I did notice the "stutter-step" happening in that spot, as well as perceiving that there was a false floor there as well. And it took me forever to finally realize how to keep my candle lit (haha)(a real "doh!" head-slapper moment)!
I've got several "off the beaten path" screenshots for #2 that maybe I'll post sometime, but there was a lot less mapspace in which I was capable this time (good job!). :cheeky:
Won't take long before I play these again, I'm sure! Even if you plan on no future updated versions! Thanks again; none better than these!
