Hi,
I just want to say thank you for all the time and effort that went into The Broken Triad. The effects were better than I've seen before. The story was good. The textures and level design were excellent. In places, things could have been a little darker for ambiance.
I have a suggestion/comment. I ran into a problem that I thought that the green hall leading to the code room seemed to be a mirror of the other green glyph hall, and so I always seemed to take one way around, but it was only after reading the walk-though that I took the "other" way. There is symmetry elsewhere for visibility blocking, and I thought the hallways were the same. If there was two plaques, one for each direction, I would not have embarked on a multi-hour pixel hunt--elewhere, and I don't think that it take anything from the gameplay--knowing that one thing is one way, and other thing is the other way.
Thank You,
BrendaEM

Thanks for your feedback, BrendaEM. I also think a plaque showing the direction to the palace could help alleviate that particular problem.

Got myself into a jam in the sewers.
Not able to find my way into Sheila's, I wandered around until I found the manhole cover key. Now I am stuck in the sewers. The switch that floods the sewers can't be frobbed twice, so I can't go back. Obviously I need a hammer for the pesdestal in the cypts, but I haven't got that yet. I found a place where I could use a rope arrow up into a room, but needless to say I have no key for the doors there. I don't have the energy for the Riddler's puzzle today. I've searched for switches for the bricked areas down there in the vain hope that one of these would lead back up to the surface.
Is there another way back out, or do I have to reload?

I struggled with that area as well, because I didn't see a way to open the doors from the crypt. There is however something frobbale in the room with the doors that will grant your exit.
Spoiler: Pull one of the banners along the wall to open the double doors.
Fraser on 21/9/2008 at 23:55
Ah. I'm going too fast.
Anyway, I reloaded, and finally found, uh, Sheila, and the notes, and can return to the sewers now armed with the things I think I need.
I haven't found any secrets yet, and I'm sure there are some. I've done a little climbing, found some loot, but nothing that qualifies as a secret. I've climbed everything I can find that's climbable, but no luck.
Also, I found a nice way into the Casino, but there's too much light for sneaking. I can't get near anyone. I thought about letting them raise the alarm and picking them off one by one while they swaggered about looking for me, but that hardly seemed true to the spirit of the game -- more like thuggery than thievery.
Also, I'd really like to use spoiler tags in my posts, but I don't know how. Sorry if I'm revealing too much in all my blathering.

Also, I feel pretty stupid, but in the last of the four cells, I can see a secret door, but darned if I can find a way to open it.
But as you can see, I DID work out how to use a spoiler tag. Like many things Thief-ish (and likely very much akin to the solution to my query above), it was in plain sight.
Edit: I should add that I've read a spoiler for the solution to my problem. I'm therefore pretty sure I know exactly where the thing I'm looking for should be -- but I can see nothing at all in that location, and I've driven myself buggy looking for it.

Fraser, it's pretty easy to miss it. Go past the cell door and walk just a few steps farther, past the last stone archway. On the back side of the stones of the archway, look on the right-hand side (facing the fake door at the end of the hall), just above eye level, for a small lever.
Fraser on 22/9/2008 at 03:36
Thank you.
Spoiler said door, whereas it's actually in the archway. I spent half an hour looking at the same incorrect place.:laff:
Some other questions, presumably not related to the main Objectives:
1. Does the circle under the compass rose points on the number clues in the Riddler's Puzzle point to North? The way I was trying to map them out, two numbers were pointing the same way. I spent a fair amount of time trying to figure out the clues, but nothing made sense. I know what I'msupposed to do, but the visual clues just don't seem to be enough. Also, I've looked up at the ceiling and mapped out the colours in relation to one another, but as I can't see the number clues at that point, it doesn't help. Also, the colours on the ceiling aren't the same as on the puzzle floor, so they aren't overly helpful. I've been able to go onto four stones without falling -- but only by thinking I knew what the first one was, and then guessing in desperation.
Oh wait. Scratch that. Over and done and prize in hand. Actually you could get over this pretty much by guessing. I just hate hearing Garret shriek. It worries my cat, who is sitting beside me.
2. Do I have to do the Riddler's Puzzle before I can use the sawdust?
3. I have to do the Riddler's Puzzle in order to get into the Cathedral?
4. What do I do with the fountain I made in the catacombs, using the hammer?
5. And finally, now that I've completed the man objectives -- where are the secrets? I found one or two.One activated by a switch in a statue near Sheila's place There are a couple of lists in this thread, but they are quite vague, e.g. "You can mantle onto the market stalls." Actually in my game you can't, but you can use ropes. But there's nothing up there, and nowhere to go from up there, that I can see.

There is a (
http://www.thief-thecircle.com/missions/walkthroughs/BrokenTriad1ArkfordWalkthrough.html) walkthrough that lists all the secrets, though I wouldn't advise looking at it until you've completed the mission. It's much more fun to explore yourself, first.
2 & 3:
The Riddler's puzzle section is not required to complete the mission. It gives you a useful item that is nice to have in a few spots but has nothing to do with any of the required objectives in either mission. 4: If you haven't a clue what to do with this, then you haven't finished all the main objectives, even if you
think you have.
Return to Garrett's room, where you began the mission and then you'll get more objectives.

Yes, I can see that I still have a few things to do, and all I can say is,   :cheeky:
Is there any way to kill the invisible haunt(s) in the crematorium, or is this just a cut and run sequence? I tried fire arrows and flash bombs to no avail.
...Phew.
I have to say this. You have my undying gratitude for the second part of this mission. My favourite OM, bar none, brought to life. It's like discovering it all over again.
