Thanks for the help. I feel foolish.
I will take out my feelings on the guards. I pity them. :ebil:

Ghosting? No, I just ran like hell, dodging back and forth through them while trying to pick the locks. :D
If you did that, then maybe you missed what must have been a fairly heat-resistant ring in one of the urns. I concur about the atmosphere, though; once I realized where Garrett was, I wanted the heck out, even without the ash zombies as encouragement! You could almost smell the acrid ash in the air and feel the grit underfoot. Along with the institutional elevator and the guard falling dead through the front door of the polished foyer, Esh takes top honours for the creepiest locale in an FM.

I could sneak past them all except for the first one. How did you get past that one?
Sorry, just saw this post.
As I recall, there's a niche with a spot of shadow halfway down his hall. I hid in the first room while he came towards me, trailed him to the niche and waited for him to come back and go past, then continued past him. I think I had to go back to the niche a time or two as I believe there's a locked door nearby. Don't know, I did it in an early Beta - I suppose it's possible that you can't do it anymore if Esh changed something along the way.

I played the 3 missions in a row last week, damn it was awesome :D
Ominous bequest gold : 9,5/10
I loved the upgraded graphics. The textures kept the spirit of their original versions, I found them very subtle, it was great. I realised I never managed to finish this mission before, I always got stuck where you have to get the sword. I think that was mainly due to trouble with my english, I didn't understand everything. This time I decided to entirely finish it, and now I realise why it's one of the best mission ever made. :thumb:
Your improved graphics gave me ideas for my next mission :)
Broken triad :
Mission 1 : 8,5/10
At first I got disappointed by the city, I expected it to be a little more detailled or complex. Even the graphics didn't impress me much compared to the upgrade of ominous bequest graphics. But then I understood why it was simple : there are tons of things to do, and I bet you decided to keep it simple in order to create everything you needed with dromed.
However, I love the interiors of your buildings, they felt a lot like Thief 1 interiors, they were fantastic. It reminded me ideas I had while building my first fms, and never managed to implement due to dromed limits. :D
I'm highly impressed by the special effects (particles, tga textures...) and the way the story reveals itself to the player (camvators...). Very professional.
The story was too simple for me, a little too black and white I'd say (good Garrett vs bad demon), but again the way we discover it is fantastic.
My main problem was with the secrets and side quests. I've spent hours searching for things which would happen later in the mission, when we would have gone further in the story and found new objects. It was very frustrating. Still, I think it comes from the screenshots available here and there, they give too many spoilers. For example, I didn't want to swap the statues because I thought it would open the portal, as seen in screenshots, and then it was the end of the mission, while I still had tons of things to do with the secrets and all.
Special effects, scenery, attention to detail and technical stuff are almost perfect, but it was too frustrating at moments, so I give it "only" 8,5/10 :ebil:
Mission 2 : 9,5/10
Outstanding...
I found extremely interesting the way you explain and describe the precursors. It was quite a challenge, but you succeded to create a believable story.
The graphics were terrific as well, but it looked too egyptian for me : I thought I was playing Stargate SG1 instead of thief, especially with the pyramid key and the portal :cheeky: . It's not exactly the way I was seeing the precursors. The keeper compound is perfect though, and at places I recognised a similar architecture to the lost city, well done.
Tons of good ideas, the special effects were even more impressive than with the previous mission. The new AIs, the ghosts, they were fantastic as well, and I like a lot the way we get rid of the demon, very clever. I found the puzzles a little hard at moments, but they were brilliant overall.
To be brief, despite a few frustrations these missions are unbelievably great, very professional and impressive, no wonder why you spent so much time to do them. Thanks a ton for your hard work Eshaktaar :thumb:
Good news, I didn't have a single bug :D

Builder, what a mess.
I can't believe that the T-TC post incudes two spoilerific screenshots (namely, the last one and the third last one).
...
Forget that, they gave away the whole story to mission 2, which you're absolutely not supposed to know until you get there. :eww:
Oh, and the screenshots of mission 2 are totally spoilerific too.
I'm glad I played the beta so I didn't have the whole story ruined by that news post...

Oh man, you are correct. I looked, I haven't finished the FM yet. Curiosity got the better of me. I wished I wouldn't of looked. :(
klatremus on 15/6/2008 at 14:56
Wow you are right. Luckily I didn't see/notice those before finishing, but they are quite spoilerish yes. Somebody should change them, seeing as there are many players who haven't gotten around to playing BT yet.

My deepest apologies. I was a more than a bit over-enthusiastic about the mission. I have removed several of the screenshots including the ones mentioned by NV, as well as rewriting my description of the second mission. I do not believe the remaining screenshots are spoilers.
Thanks for the reality check. And again, my apologies to anyone who had the mission spoiled for them. That was not my intention.
BrokenArts on 15/6/2008 at 17:23
Oh we know you didn't mean to pavs. Tis ok, :) I do think, (just a suggestion), that from now on, leave out the real spoilers from the FM descriptions as well as the screenshots?
Just a thought.
pavlovscat on 15/6/2008 at 17:28
I do usually try to leave out spoilers, but Esh's work was just so incredible, I lost my mind! :p ;)
