cardia1, just keep playing, its worth it. If you get stuck, ask the forum. Keep going, :)
The one thing this does, is train you, make you think, it builds up your thieving skills, your reasoning skills, you'll learn more about puzzles, and how to solve them. Don't give up.

First a quick summary of my impressions:
 :thumb: :D :wot: :)
Minor issues:
* I noticed a ladder here and there (for example one in the CW-station tower in the first mission and one at the end of the Last Path in the second mission) that could have been floored to avoid having to jump to get off it (and thus alerting nearby guards).
* I also missed an automap, especially in the first mission where I had preferred to get to the right map page (out of five) directly. Fortunately, the town was easy to navigate once I'd gone through it, so I never really got lost (like I tend to do in larger city missions), but a rough automap would still have been nice.
* There could have been more shadows to hide in in the town, but at the same time, the lack of shadows added to the sense of being haunted. I did end up blackjacking everyone, though, which could have been avoided more easily with more shadows, or you could have limited the allowed blackjacks on Expert, which would have forced me to sneak more. I do enjoy sneaking even if it is hard (or I'm being forced), but if I get the chance I tend to get lazy which somewhat spoils the fun of sneaking.
* Playing on Expert could have been a bit harder with more limits to what's allowed (see previous point). Expert is Expert, after all.
Other than that, these two missions were as near perfection as you can possibly get. The story drew me in right away and I had to force myself to quit to eat and get some sleep and go to work. There were so many nice details that I quite don't know where to start.
* I loved the new AIs in the second mission. Especially the ones belonging to the Dark Watch.
* Great ambience with background sounds.
* Great plot twists. For me they conveyed a feeling of not being in total control of myself or the events around me, which helped drawing me in.
* Very good gameplay. I had lots of fun, which is, in my opinion, what games are about!
* Great puzzles which were quite forgiving and never got tedious. I felt that the solutions were always logical (once I got it I was like "Aha, of course, why didn't I think of that right away!?" instead of "What? Why would I ever even think about doing that!?").
* Architecture: Flawless, except maybe for some wedges (down in the catacombs in the first mission I think it was) that could have been put in line with the surrounding brushes.
* The new Spirit Fire arrow was great. I managed to gather a large number of AIs around me and then I had the pleasure of watching the effects of the new arrow. At times I thought it made things a bit too easy, but it also made things more fun, because I could concentrate on the task at hand and I didn't have to sneak by the same AI a dozen times.
* I loved sneaking by the new mummies (which were also great in themselves) down below in the second mission; that was intense. The gate closing in front of me (and the things behind me) raised my pulse quite a bit  which brings me to the next point:
* Great scary moments: In the crematorium, down with the mummies and in the sanctuary at the end (realizing that I was not alone).
* And a thousand other great things that would take all night to mention :thumb:
When I was almost done I was tense and expected new enemies to jump up at any time even at the very end. Now that I think of it, I would have liked an ending movie showing how the island (and the souls caught there) was affected by the final departure of "Mr N" just to get some closure.
I enjoy playing Thief as well as traditional point&click-adventure games and Broken Triad had a bit of both (or rather a lot of both, though maybe it was a bit more adventure than Thief) which suited me very well. Thanks for putting so much work and dedication into this and letting us play it!

still on part 1, read about
punchcards, but cannot find any machine in the inventor's tower. been up both elevators, found a fire arrow. spoken with the keeper and looking for a way to find the dagger so I can follow the recipe and purge the demon. a little nudge please.o
thank you
First question:
You've been up the broken goods elevator in the inventor's tower. HOW do you get up that elevator? It's been driving me nuts for some time now. Roping the top doesn't help you get up from the bottom, and it sure looks like you'd need way too many crates to try to climb crates. I tried throwing a crate up there (to try to rope to the thrown crate) but it doesn't look like it goes up high enough.Second question:
I still need to figure out how to turn lights off in the museum. I currently don't have access to the following areas in the museum:
* Energy Transformer in the basement
* Anthropology area in the basement
* Storage area on 2nd floor
* Office area on 2nd floor
* Balcony above front entrance (where the big brown door leads), second floor
* Eastern attic/spectral receptor and western attic, 3rd floor
In terms of the mission goals, I've turned off the blue beams but haven't been able to get at either the bottom or the top controls for the sculpture security in the museum. What do I do next? (I'm playing normal difficulty.)
(The other comment I'll make is that a walkthrough would be welcome sooner rather than later. There are all sorts of things that you can do that are non-obvious what their purpose is at this time, for example,
the sawdust and
using the sacred hammer in the tombs.)

Update: Would you believe my error was very simple: I misplaced the location of the
back door of the police station. (For some reason I thought it was
west of Tower Square rather than
southeast of Bell Court.) With the
lamp oil, I had everything I needed, I only needed to
turn off the lights in that room. I had quite the wild goose chase with the
Riddler's Tomb, and the
switch above the round decoration in the museum, thinking that was the switch
I needed to turn off lights in the museum. Never mind.

You can't do any of that stuff until you progress with the main objectives, it's as simple as that.
You need to get the green skeleton key from the locksmith, as Shiela's letter told you.
You can turn off the lights in the museum by just using the light switch? Or did you mean something else?
And would people please stop trying to use the holy hammer and the sawdust? Those are for later, after you've finished all your main objectives and gone back home.
Finally, someone asked how to get the secret in Garrett's basement.. You can only get that secret after you've come home after completing all your main objectives. Don't worry, the mission does not end the minute you get home, you still have time to explore there freely before you choose when to finish the mission and proceed to the next one.

Ok got the last 70 loot thanks to ffox's list. Just out of curiosity, which items are randomized and how many different places are we talking about ?? (Mission 1)
ffox on 6/6/2008 at 06:14
klatremus: I think I'm right in saying that there are two items:
The Director's wife - 5 names (all in the same place).
The oil flask - 3 different locations.

Been to the Apocathary shop and cant find the oil...whare is it ?
Nevermind...I see its someplace else :)

Oh, I think it's a GREAT idea to randomize items and loot in the FMs, better replayability value this way.
BT does that for few items, but I think it would be interesting to randomize like 50 or maybe even 90% of loot and items. :sly: :sly:
