I've tried a number of times to fool Neminda by wearing the helm provided by the mission giver (Nileno in Balmora) but I get one of two results: either she recognises me and my Journal says I forgot to wear the helm, or she attacks me because I'm wearing someone else's headgear and the conversation box doesn't let me use the code phrase, just say 'goodbye'..
I've tried killing her and taking the orders scroll, and I've picked her pocket for it: but neither lets me complete the mission.
So, what am I doing wrong?
PC version, latest euro patch.

That is an odd one. I just wore the helm and got what I needed.
Maybe you had a conversation with her before, or you are wearing the wrong helm?

One thing... if you wear it in the area she's in, the helm's written in such a way that the ruse won't work (presumably because she spots you putting it on). Go to another area (ie: the Manor area, or the Redoran Council Hall), wear the helm, and go in and talk to her.

When you talked to Nileno she said that you must ask after ... (can't remember).
So go to Niminda ( with your helm on ) and ask after...... she shall give you the scroll.
Return it to Nileno.
That's it.

Thanks all. I did put the helm on before entering, and it is the right one - Neminda sometimes recognises it and attacks me.
I don't recall conversing with her previously, though I suppose it's possible. If so, is there a console command I can use to fix it?

just something i'd try, go back to...Neminda? in Balmora and talk to her about it again, and click on all the talk links...i've done it before where i have bothered with something then had to go back just to listen to the conversation....you may have already done this....but just in case you hadden't

I think I've found my mistake - looking back through the Journal shows that I did a quest for Neminda (dispel potion recipe) earlier. I'd forgotten she had anything to do with it.
