There's still a betting pool going on whether they will finally stop the foreplay and either kill each other or have hot hot sex. Maybe the fact that it's Valentine's Day will convince them to get it over with the right (read: the in which I'd win the most money) way.

I don't really like how this situation is being framed as a choice between 'do nothing' and 'kick the everliving shit out of prisoners'.
A few steps to be found in between these two, surely.
And that is why the good Lord broke from His rest and on the seventh day, created pistol-whipping.
Also, Ulukai just wins this thread BY A KNOCKOUT!

As we know, this is against the "rules of engagement" as far as "civilised" war is concerned, however...
War is ugly. No matter what. I can't blame these guys for doing what they did. If you have someone throwing rocks/bottles/hand grenades, doesn't matter what, you take care of it. The fact that these were youths and only throwing rocks are the only reason that they are probably alive. They were beat to shit and sent back to their friends to send a message. Just like the headless bodies of our soldiers were hung from a bridge to send us a message. Regardless of whatever rules are in place, put in place by those who have never been close to a battlefield, this is how war is played. The big mistake is letting the media close enough to flim what goes on, then showing it on the news to get the general public all enraged. It must be hell to be in their place, and I give them all my support.
First time they throw rocks, beat them half to death, send them back. Next time, finish the job.

Similar to the Abu Ghraib photos and at least one other video that made people a bit annoyed, none of this had anything to do with the media.

Congra-fucking-lations. Remind me again how the occupation forces are on a moral high ground here? Oh, right, you aren't making that claim. Because you know that they aren't.
Which brings the question - if the occupation doesn't have a moral high ground to stand on, what was the goddamn reason for the invasion?

There is nothing moral about war. It's dirty business. I feel that war should be the absolute last resort. Unfortunately, our world leaders feel differently. If it has to be done, though, get in, get it done, and get the fuck out.
