I get quite annoyed with people who live but 10 minutes away from work, then phone in to say they're stuck in 'drifts' and can't possibly get in.
Meanwhile, I've got up at the crack of dawn, put a shovel in the car and huge boots on my feet, and trekked in from the edge of the Pennines.

All trains to London cancelled and an aeroplane slips off a taxiway at Heathrow :nono:
Still, I heard that Snow Ploughs have not been seen on the South Coast for thirty years so it's all a bit of a mystery to them, bless.

And this is the worst for six years, which shows just how little we actually get.
Now the worst for 18 years apparently, according to (

Those soft southerners probably don't know what a shovel is!
I'm just glad I got out of London and home early this morning before London closed down. And in other related news, our van has just slid down the hill and crashed into my car!

We have some beautiful snow here up north. I actually learned how to drive in the snow when I took driving lessons. Do I like to drive in the snow? No, not really. While it is fresh snow and slushy it's not so bad but once it freezes overnight and hardens then it is another story.
My sister-in-law lives in Notting Hill and she always says, 'It never snows in London - it is too warm'. I think I'll give her a ring and tell her to look outside. ;)

Its not too bad here in Cambridge, buses etc are still running. I walked in rather than cycle because I don't trust the car drivers around here at the best of times!
Its not as bad as it was six years ago though.

I've ended up spending an extra day in Paris, and was fairly shocked to see snow coming down reasonably solidly this morning. Mostly it has been rained out now though
didn't even consider the implications for flying oh god

I got 10 inches here in the midwestern US, and an ice storm in the middle of it. My Bulldog LOVES it. He goes out and licks the snow and eats ics-balls. he also likes to sort of snowplow around w/his face. Must be why his name is 'Dozer'. ;)
