(
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7863374.stm) Icy winds from western Russia carrying whole inches (!) of snow bring Britain to a standstill!
Surely no other country could deal with these conditions and carry on with normal life.
Snowfight!! :D

To be fair though, the south of the country never gets any fucking snow, so we're not set up for it. There's what, 5 inches at most? And this is the worst for six years, which shows just how little we actually get.
As far as I care, all it means is that I will be building a snowman in the car park at work.

That'd be a great excuse if it had come out of the blue but this has been predicted for a week now!
I'll be building a snowman in my garden, just like last April :D

Well, I was referring to things like we're not taught how to drive in the snow, and we don't have things like winter tyres. Not typically things a whole country can cover in a week!
But yes, snowmen.

No-one is taught how to drive in the snow. You kind of just have to... not be an idiot for that one. Too bad 98.3% of people are idiots.

I was actually taught how to drive in snow. I took driving lessons, and we went to an icy parking lot, set up pylons, and did some emergency manoeuvres. Thanks to Gran Turismo I did pretty well -- impressed the instructor at least. :D

Just drive faster. That's the way most people do it.

I cycled from my girlfriend's house to my own and everyone was driving very safely and considerately, leaving loads of room and going slowly. Sort of makes you wonder why it couldn't happen all the time. I didn't cycle up the couple of hills on the way but then a good few cars couldn't either. I tried to help push a few whose tyres were spinning and unable to start but it didn't really work due to not being able to get any sort of grip to push. So they ended up turning round and driving off down the hill.
I did talk to a friend of mine who said it took him 2 hours to get to work because the roads weren't gritted. That's kind of what I mean by preparing for the snow. Having never driven at all, let alone in snow, I don't know how hard it is but most people were managing fine. Every bus and tram in London has been cancelled, as well as a lot of suspensions and delays on the Tube and trains.
